Daily Inspiration: Meet Sulay Lugo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sulay Lugo

Hi Sulay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had weight loss surgery in 2017. I had just separated from my first husband, I hated my job and I was feeling kind of lost. At that time being in my mid-30s, this is not where I thought I would be. I started really seeking God and just being grateful, even if it was just little things. Having a grateful heart, it makes things seem a little easier. After separating from my ex-husband, I found a new church and reestablished my relationship with Jesus. It was then that I dedicated that I wanted to share my story and encourage other people, especially women to live their best life through my Instagram @iheart.sulay. I named it that because I had to really learn to my love self to succeed. We all don’t have to be the typical “boss babe” but we are made to win in whatever we do. I love encouraging people to love themselves right where they’re at because I believe that Jesus loves us where we are at. We don’t have to be perfect people we just gotta be like Jesus. Again it points to why I encouraged others because I am encouraged by the word of God daily, so in return, I do that same. Whether you are trying to be healthy, be positive and/or live a life worth living I want to be that positive voice that tells “You can do it and you will do it”. Now 5 years later, I am happily remarried and everything I do, I do unto God. My life isn’t perfect but I serve a perfect God and I am just grateful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think many people have had smooth roads, I definitely have not. In one of the hardest moments of my life, I was at my heaviest, a whopping 310-315lbs, I was in a loveless marriage and lost. I dealt with bad self-esteem issues and just didn’t believe in myself. Our worst enemy is really our mind. I had to learn to over my negative thoughts and learn to see the light in the middle of darkness. It is not always easy to do that but the more you do it. The more you will see the good and see that there is a purpose for everything that we go through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am basically in full time ministry. I work for a Christian non-profit, I serve on my church’s worship team and I am constantly and posting and talking about Jesus. I am so proud of the woman I am today and how far I have come. I have lost 110lbs give or take, I love myself inside and out and I no longer feel lost. So from work to my social media I deal with people and encourage others to love Jesus, to be grateful and be generous.
