Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonny Storm.
Hi Jonny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started battle rapping as soon as I had moved to Orlando my sophomore year of High School. We would freestyle battle and the entire cafeteria would surround us in amazement. Ever seen then I had entered countless freestyle battles and tournaments all over until one day I was approached about a new wave of written rap battles going on and being recorded for YouTube. Over 3 million views later the rest is history…I’ve been blessed to battle all over the country, UK, Sweden, and more…in front of thousands of fans and celebrities such as Eminem, Xzibit, B-Real, and more. I was the first battle rapper to ever be on worldstar, and the first to ever even reach 100K views on Youtube, and I’ve continued that for over 14 years while making music, doing shows, and touring, while always working and furthering my education.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth, but traveling and working hard to make it to battles, to now being paid and flown out to different places, and leagues getting you hotels and such is something I would have never dreamed to see for just doing what I love in the battle rap culture.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Battle Rap, Freestyle Rap, Improvisation. I’ve won RedBull Freestyle Tournaments, HipHop Elements, and countless others in my life.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Definitely taken many risks to try to get myself into different battles and situations. You have to bet on yourself, and that investment will pay itself back if you put in the work.
