Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Daniel.
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was an entrepreneur of McDonald’s Restaurants in Alabama. I received my bachelor’s in economics at SUNY at Stony Brook and my Bachelor’s in Hamburgerology at McDonald’s Corporation, Hamburger University. After ten years of managing shifts and day-to-day operations at restaurants in New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey, I was allowed to purchase my Franchise in February 2008 and relocated to Montgomery, Alabama. The organization grew to four locations in Montgomery, Union Springs, and Selma, Alabama, in those ten years. I received many awards from McDonald’s Corporation, including years of service, people development, and restaurant performance. In 2018 I retired from the restaurant business. I eventually had a daughter and relocated to Florida. It took some time for me to find my next career. Not working for someone for ten years had its challenges. One day I saw some online videos online and saw the opportunity in Mobile Loan Signings. So, in 2019 I started my mobile notary loan signing business. As time progressed in the industry, I wanted more in my business. My sister said to me. “You know, you would be good as a mortgage loan officer.” She thought I would be great at it because of my background with people.
My business background gives me a unique ability to manage the day-to-day of the mortgage industry. On April 5th, 2021, I took the mortgage loan officer test and passed on the first try. I then joined the Mile Marker Mortgage team. We are a boutique brokerage owned by Christina Santana. I have fallen in love with the business. I enjoy helping others reach their goal of homeownership. I can educate, guide, and assist people through the mortgage process, which can be overwhelming at times. Starting over is never easy, but starting over and finding a career where you can still give back to others has been my secret sauce in life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In 2018 I had to retire from the franchise restaurant business. I was living in Georgia after I retired. I was a single mom and found it difficult to restart after leaving the industry I had worked in for twenty years. I realized that I needed to make a change financially and mentally. I rented my home in Georgia and relocated to Florida. It was supposed to be temporary, and then COVID-19 happened. I experienced over the next 2.5 years what any other temporary landlord had. I couldn’t move back to Georgia due to a bad tenant and COVID-19 restrictions. It was tough because I had no control over the situation. I decided to make Florida home and began to grow my mobile notary business. When your plans change unexpectedly, it’s hard to pivot. But I had to make difficult decisions for my daughter and me. It took some time for me to find my next career. But I believe the mortgage industry is where I belong. I think that everything happens for a reason. I had to weather the storm to get to the other side.

What matters most to you? Why?
My focus is to help others. I genuinely want to see people reach their dreams of homeownership. Helping, educating, and guiding people is very satisfying. I help people whom most loan officers would never help these clients. I believe my difference is my patience with my clients. When my clients are not ready to purchase or refinance, I help strategize to create a plan of action and hold them accountable by checking in with them. I can help.
