Today we’d like to introduce you to Deryon Moore.
Hi Deryon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started at a very young age I would say I was around the ages 9 or 10, fashion has always my passion since I can remember. I would draw dresses and jackets pants etc and would buy vogue magazines to get styling inspiration. I would watch sex and city because I was super obsessed with “Carrie Bradshaw” fashion. and then came the Kardashian lol I would watch so many different runways shows as well. I was the guy in high school where my outfit determines my day lol, I was so very posh, which lead me to winning best dressed in high school! after I graduate hs, I kinda lost my way a little with not knowing what career I wanted to go after. So, I tried a couple different of jobs, schools that didn’t work out for me, I remember having the hardest time deciding on what I wanted to do. During that transitioning I was still shopping a lot so that I can remain stylist lol. So, one day I had a meeting with my mentor and we starting talking about what direction I should take he mention me starting a women boutique, and something sparked inside of me instantly! so my mentor walked me through of the process becoming a businessman. I brought my business name that December before the new year of 2016 started, that was a goal for me to buy before my business name before the new year. I started looking and researching for a team for my shoot I started with my amazing and very talentive photographer Nigel Elliot and My beyond amazing sister Chazree Moore which was my hairstylist and then my two super talented MUA’s Cheryl Marrie and Lovelylynn. I found majority of my team on via social media. I then begin to shop for inventory. all of my shoots were so magical I went live every shoot, I felt like that would get a lot of attention on social media! after finishing my second season I got a call from 104.5 the beat to be featured their beat the runway fashion which lead to styling iHeart radio host “Vivalakoi” Koiya! I gain all my sales from all over the world through social media! now I’m revamping and relocating to Atlanta GA. which moving to Atlanta has always been somewhere I wanted to move to grow my business, so I took a change to move to a city where I knew no one to grow my business. I’m super excited to see the future for my business here in Atlanta! Orlando is my home so Orlando will always have a special place in my heart! I’m giving this new season so much of me, this new season is so personal to me! My prayer is to once I launch is to reconnect with my followers and customer from this break I took in transitioning to Atlanta!! I Can’t wait to drop my new revamp! Hope you guys enjoy all my new posh pieces Dposh!!! Thanks, CEO of Dposh “Deryon Moore”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? of course not!!! lol I feel like nothing worth having comes easy!!! I face so many different obstacles and challenges during building my brand! I remember struggling to pay my payroll, I would put in so much over time to make sure everyone was paid on time, yes, I was working a 9 to 5 to support my business I had a vision and I had to work hard for it! before ordering my inventory I would create a vision board before buying pieces I would have pieces not show up before the shoot so that would sorta throw my vision for that shoot off! I would have days where I have creator block, I’ll be in front of my computer and vision board for hours just trying to make sure my pieces are marring my vision, hours of styling, hours of thinking! Days like that, when things are not working, I learnt when it time to give up, I would just take a moment and pray that God would help me in into making the right decision. And get back to it the next day!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the creative director and CEO of D’Posh, D’posh is luxury online women boutique. I’m also the stylist for D’Posh, I’m very known for being very posh on how I style myself and how I style for my online women luxury boutique. my most proudest moment were gaining sales from all over the world from social media from how I market my brand and how my city “Orlando” supported me! That is an amazing feeling!! What sets me apart from others is that I look at many others online boutique and they’re just taking a nice pictures with a nice backgrounds, with my brand I hire a whole production team to market my business my vision for my shoots I frequently change my vision for each shoot, so I hire a team to help me produce what I wanting for each shoot, my goal is produce quality over quantity, years and years later I want t to look back and my vision inspire the next generation to be more creative and push your brand to be posh!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’m a Capricorn and we’re perfectionists lol so we when want things a certain way we don’t sleep or stop talking about until it’s done lol with that being said the most important lesson I learnt on this journey was to trust myself and live in the moment I’m always thinking on what’s next I’m really never present! and most importantly don’t be so hard on myself and so critical, everything going to eventually work itself out I tell myself, learning to be proud of myself in the moments, enjoy the process!
