Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Morgenthal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up a “Disney kid” in the Midwest. My family didn’t have money for vacations so my exposure to Walt Disney World came through books, brochures, and television. I remember requesting brochures when I was a little kid and devouring them when they would come in the mail. In 2016, my husband had a conference for work in Orlando so we decided that it was time for a trip to Walt Disney World. It was the first trip for three of my kids – they were 7- and 2-year-old twins and ME.
In April of 2016, we took that trip and it was every bit as magical as I had hoped. We ended up making a return trip in 2017 along with a trip to Disneyland in July of 2017. By December of 2018, I had made three trips to Florida and was more in love with the parks than I thought possible. In 2019, I was visiting nearly every month and decided to become a travel agent with a Disney-focused agency.
In April of 2020, we decided to move to Florida. We walked into the front door of our new home on June 27th, 2020 and have been living the dream ever since. My Instagram account had always been pretty diverse but became more and more Disney-focused as the parks reopened and I started spending 3 or 4 days a week in the parks. So, I started ThisMomDisneys and found an amazing community of Disney adults. I have made some incredible friends through Instagram.
In June of 2021, I started Tulle and Magic. My daughter and I love dressing up for the parks so this gave us the opportunity to share that love with others. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing other kiddos wearing our designs.
Now I run two businesses – both of which I love – and enjoying the most Magical life!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always struggles when finding yourself and your way into any business. 2020 definitely threw a wrench into the works as far as building a travel business. But I find that your greatest growth is made when going through struggles.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started ThisMomDisneys in 2020 when most of the world wasn’t able to visit Walt Disney World or travel in general. It began with making 30-second recaps of our park days. I would get messages from people thanking me for sharing and asking me questions about how it was in the parks. I loved being able to bring some of that magic to people stuck at home. When I started Tulle and Magic, I expanded on that need to bring magic to people. Our dresses aren’t just for park time – they’re for everyday wear. Our shirts aren’t just for vacation days but for playing outside with your friends at home.
I think what makes me most proud of what I’ve built so far is that I have stayed true to myself. I have allowed myself to grow organically and haven’t gotten bogged down in “followers” or “fans” but have kept everything truly about being there for people who are looking for a little magic in their lives.
What are your plans for the future?
My 5-year plan is to continue to grow both of my businesses – travel, and fashion. I’m adding more adult wear to my shop and working on collaborating with other small shops to lift more people up.
I am focused on collaboration over competition.
