Hi Jey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Jey & I am the founder of Beautea Be4 & After! Previously a medical assistant of 8 years. I loved the medical field but, it just wasn’t enough. I was doing what I love in regards to helping people but, I was unhappy in the work environment. One day coming home from work I saw a sign that said “Follow your bliss & make your passion your profession” That’s when the light bulb came on! It was that day I decided I’d work for myself doing what I love in my own stress-free environment. I love helping others, art, beauty & music! So why not combine them all! With that being said I decided to pursue my artistic passion through cosmetology. With passion, time & effort on my journey, I was able to create Beautea Be4 & After! Creating my very own line of hand-designed press on nails, Crystal infused natural skincare, and a self-love eBook called “Love You Some You” on Amazon. This is just the beginning, I look forward to creating an additional product, merch, and eventually my very own nail salon! Beautea Be4 & After was once just an idea, that has now manifested to be one of my biggest accomplishments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all. However, it has been a fun, creative, learning experience. Struggles have arise from finances to promoting. Purchasing all the necessary materials while trying to gain clients and customers to bring in revenue, can be quite challenging, other struggles such as personal life, being a mom of 2 girls, and battling anxiety has been a challenge as well. The trait of being resilient and the grace of God has allowed me to endure all the ups and downs gracefully. I love who I am and I love what I do. Therefore, I believe the rocky road will go smoothly sooner or later.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed nail technician; I specialize in designing and applying press-on nails. I also specialize in natural skincare products such as crystal-infused body balms and essential oils. In addition to creating, I have written a self-love / self-care eBook on Amazon, titled “Loved You Some You” by: Jey Grice. I am most proud of my ability to be resilient and creative. What sets me apart from others would be my uniqueness and my heart of gold. I love creating! Helping others! Making others smile and feel good about themselves even if I’m not feeling my best. I love art and music therefore, when I’m creating and listening to music it’s very therapeutic, bring out the best of my abilities.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the beauty industry expanding rapidly. With the development of apps geared at mobilizing the beauty industry, I can see more home services happening. I also see press on nails becoming a big deal again but, even better than before! There are so many talented beauty artists and new artistic materials and trends all over this industry. I love it! I am excited to be a part of this unique industry.
