Rising Stars: Meet Kid Way

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kid Way.

Kid, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from California but I moved to Florida when I was 8 and started making music when I was around 13. After high school, I moved from Cocoa to Orlando to attend full sail university for music production in 2015. I spent a year and half there where I met a lot of people like xxxtentacion, skimasktheslumpgod, DjScheme, lvcid, avidix, and a lot of others. After I failed out of full sail, I decided I wanted to move back to California with some friends in 2016 to work on music. I spent about 6-7 months in California before deciding to move back to Florida. At the end of 2017, I started working on Xxxtentacions clothing brand BadVibesForever as basically a live in designer up until his unfortunate passing. I started my own brand after his passing in memory of something we had talked about, called Protect The Youth. I went on tour in 2019 around America with members only, and have done a couple shows after lockdown but mainly have been working on music and my brand.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. I don’t think anyone’s journey will ever truly be smooth. I have been thru a lot, lost too many friends to violence and drugs, been doubted, lied too, and used for people’s personal and financial gains, but shit happens for a reason and I know God has a plan.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I write and record music, and design clothes, I engineer as well as produce. I’m honestly most proud of everything I’ve done and what I have achieved along the way, working on BADVIBESFOREVER touring the United States, and just making great music.

How do you define success?
I think success is what you make it. Everyone has a different view on everything, what you like what you don’t like so some people think cars clothes jewelry means success but I think success is what you make it. It’s your view on where you’re at.
