Exploring Life & Business with Al Alves-Lázaro of Al’s Ice Cream Gelato

Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Alves-Lázaro.

Hi Al, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started our ice cream journey back in March 2019. We started with in a route in Orlando where we drove thru the neighborhoods and some communities. We sold only packaged ice cream treats where we had over 100 varieties. We were super busy because all of the varieties that we had and we started getting recognized, after one year we sold that truck and got a bigger and started making some sundaes and snow cones, and using the finest ingredients. From that point, we started doing some events in different locations thru greater Orlando area and still kept doing our route. At this point we got so many invitations for bigger events that the truck is already too small, so we sold that one. Our sundaes were getting recognized and getting great ratings. We were doing soft serve, sundaes, dessert sundaes, and also some vegan options. Our third truck that we have today fits our needs. We also changed our concept to gelato ice cream which is a different from regular ice cream, much richer and creamier. We now have available gelato soft serve, gelato dessert sundaes, gelato sundaes, plant-based gelato, vegan, gluten-free, keto, shaved ice. We also only the finest toppings and ingredients and that’s our success.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t easy, truck breaks down, problems with generator, but never lose your faith
