Hi Bill & Linda, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Eleven years ago, we moved to Florida for a new job, with our two boys and within a year or so, both our daughters moved to Florida too. Our oldest went to work for The Spice & Tea Exchange corporate marketing department. This is how we got turned on to the wonderful products The Spice & Tea Exchange offers. Five years ago, we purchased The Spice & Tea Exchange of Winter Park. The store has been a great success. We offer more than 85 custom spice seasonings that we blend in-store daily and more than 65 varieties of loose-leaf teas. Linda and I both love the healthy aspects of what we offer; spice blends without added preservatives and chemicals as well as the immune-building properties of our many Green, Black & Herbal Teas. For the past 3 years, we had been searching for a second location that would be as good as our first and in 2020, we found Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. Eventually, we found a perfect space right on Centre Street for The Spice & Tea Exchange of Fernandina Beach and opened for business on May 6th!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We have been truly blessed with terrific local support for our stores. Despite recent events, our customers have remained loyal and we are very thankful for that.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Spice and Tea Exchange of Winter Park FL & The Spice & Tea Exchange of Fernandina Beach FL. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We offer more than 85 custom seasoning blends made in-store daily, more than 65 varieties of loose-leaf teas, tea and cooking accessories, and Iced & Hot Tea to go!
The Spice & Tea Exchange imports the finest spices, herbs, salts, sugars, and peppers from all around the world. Our ingredients are the freshest and the best available!
We now offer an in-store Tea Bar at both stores. Guests can choose from any one of our more than 65 loose leaf teas and get iced or hot tea to go.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We are very excited with the explosive growth of tea consumption in America. First, Tea is one drink you really can’t drink too much of! Second, Tea is very good for the immune system, providing antioxidants that may help to reduce the risks of many chronic diseases. Green Teas in particular offer a greater antioxidant boost than other varieties.
Certainly, we are all cooking more at home these days, and The Spice & Tea Exchange’s huge selection of freshly made seasoning blends turns even a novice chef into a true gourmet!
