Check Out Danielle Knight’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Knight.

Hi Danielle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?

I come from what I would say is a very fashionable household. I remember my mother always having the best shoes and putting together such amazing looks and my father was always “sharp” as he would say! As I got older and began experimenting with fashion, I found myself more and more into it.

On a routine shopping trip to Forever21 in high school, I received a brochure that featured fashion bloggers – I remember Karla Deras of Karla’s Closet specifically and thought to myself I can do that! That very same day I started my first blog – FashionDazee on MySpace which eventually moved to WordPress and then changed to XOXODanielleMone.com! (It actually evolved into The Twenty Something Girl’s Guide to Living Life – but my now husband posed the question “what would I do when I turned 30?” so XOXODanielleMone it is! From starting the blog, I began working with both my little sister Dominique, my best friend Ghislaine, and my husband Jeff to shoot outfit photos and cold link the things I wore, that then became working with brands like Henri Bendel, ShoeDazzle, Fabletics, and more and joining the RewardStyle/Shop LTK family which have all led me to where I am now!

I’m now at a point where I’ve gained over 10,000 Instagram followers, almost 30,000 on TikTok, I’ve worked with over 20 brands, I’m building a YouTube channel, and average 5,000 monthly views worldwide on my (dot) com site! I enjoy putting looks together, reviewing beauty and fashion items, and sharing my everyday life with people and I’m happy that people enjoy it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

For the most part, starting my blog and creating content has been smooth – I think when you genuinely enjoy what you’re doing it translates to people and they want to support and follow you.

I will say one obstacle that remains present in content creating is the ever-changing algorithm, making sure you’re using the right words to push your content and to continue pushing content that your target audience wants to see and will respond to. Engagement is everything and I’ve found that one of my posts will reach 14,000 profiles but will only receive 100 likes – lots of trial and error.

I think the larger my following got and the more brands reached out is when the obstacles started – It looks like a lot of fun but there’s definitely a business side to things and one thing I realized early on is brands don’t necessarily want to pay you, they just want to give you free product. Remember if you’re looking to get into content creating – not only are they paying you for your following, they are paying for your time, your ideas, your photography, and editing, etc. Blogging and/or Creating Content isn’t just taking photos in pretty outfits (although that is the best part) but meeting deadlines, planning, and scheduling, editing, telling my husband he can’t eat any of his food until I get the perfect shot! When working a full-time job, it’s definitely a challenge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion blogger turned content creator. I say that because I started out strictly blogging about fashion – outfits, where to buy certain pieces, fashion Inspo and sales happening and that has since evolved into restaurants I love and frequent, spend the day or weekend vlogs, natural hair content, and more.

I think I have a variety of followers across different networks that follow me for different things – I’m sure there are girls who only follow me for hair content (I grow it out and shave it off every few years) and then I’m sure there are girls who follow my for my outfits, it just depends but I think I have a little something for everyone!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I think the most important lesson I’ve had to learn is to not take it too personal. When you’re doing something like this – beauty or fashion and it isn’t well-received you have to remember it’s not you. People aren’t “not liking” you Maybe it’s the outfit they just don’t like, maybe the product you shared is a little edgy or expensive – or maybe you posted at the wrong time of the day (because that is definitely a thing). SO yes, find your niche and your target audience but in the end post what you like remember if it wasn’t well achieved don’t take it too personal.

Love the story. So many people are trying to get into this type of business and I think everything she mentioned is relative but most importantly don’t take it personally. Kudos and good luck with your sites

She was a beautiful little girl and now a fabulous beautiful adult. Style, charm and personality. Good family with good values. I’m so proud of her.

I’ve followed you for quite some time, and you have taught me how to take care of my natural hair. Please continue doing what you’re doing.
