Conversations with David Pierce

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Pierce.

Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started our detailing cars back when I was just a child. I have always had an interest in cars. Back when I was a kid my dad always worked on or had old muscle cars, so that’s where the passion came from. Id enjoys helping my dad work on and tinker with the cars. When I was tall enough to reach the pedals, my parents would let me move the cars around and teach me how to drive. So, I typically only could do this when I was cleaning them for my parents. So, I started detailing and cleaning their vehicles and neighbors quite often just so I could move cars around and learn to drive. This is how I taught myself to drive and how I also learned to drive manual. So, from the age of 10 or so up to me getting my license, I would detail around the neighborhood to get my driving fix. I always wanted to drive new or fast cars and this is how I did it or felt like I was doing it. We’ll after I started driving, I realized I actually enjoyed cleaning the cars. It was my alone time or time to clear my head. So, I continued detailing around for friends, family, etc. as an outlet. So, I started installing graphics when I was roughly 19. I did that on and off for a while. We’ll I was installing graphics for a company and I decided I was missing that outlet I used to have and enjoy so much and wanted a side job to get that fulfillment and help with some extra bills etc. so I sold my Dirt bike I had and found a trailer and bought it. I’d spends the next 6 months making the trailer road worthy and up to my old standards. I did everything to this little trailer to make it look and operate efficiently. I was just working weekends and on the side until covid hit. I was laid off from my graphics job and had to figure out how to pay my bills, so my side business became my full-time job at that moment and I had to make it work, over the next 3/4 years I would work out of that trailer, sell it and my truck to buy a van and make the van our new detail rig. We then started renting a shop and building it out and actually just moved from that first shop into our second better shop. That’s where we are now. We are in our second shop, focusing more so on paint protection films, tint, wraps, and ceramic coatings. We do offer the regular details still but with our high attention to detail and impeccable reviews we have gained a lot of high-end clients who strive for the best work and that’s all we focus on now. We are not a numbers detail company. I rather make one perfect job flawless in a week than send out 5 sun par jobs. So, we are highly focused on quality over quantity and that’s what Pierce Precision Detail stands for!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was difficult at first. I sold my Dirt bike to buy our first trailer. Then after working out of that for probably a year and pulling it with my beat-up truck I would sell both the trailer and truck and with money I had saved up go and buy a newer van which I still have to this day. There are times still it’s slow from time to time or customers doubt us because the next person can do it for less money. But we focus on the tiny details most people overlook. We strive to be the absolute best and make sure everything is as perfect as it can get. And that’s exactly how I want my company and name to be. Every person or company makes mistakes but how you handle them and correct it sets you apart.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in high-end luxury detailing. Specifically paint protection films, wraps, ceramic coatings, and tint. We also do paint corrections and make a vehicle look even better than the day it rolls off the lot. I like to think of myself as a car plastic surgeon. Your paints faded or scratched or worried about rock chips. We can fix all of that and make it better than it was ever before. We are known for being highly attentive to the small details. That’s what sets us apart from everyone else. I will work on a vehicle for many many hours until it’s absolutely perfect before handing it back to our clients and that’s why they choose us. That’s how we’ve gotten our impeccable 5-star reviews online which I’m so proud of having and being able to accomplish from just detailing cars in the driveway for friends and family to having this company as a household brand and being known for great service!
