Life and Work with Jackie Grant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Grant.

Jackie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My business idea began in March of 2019 while doing a Facebook LIVE where I baked a melon ball cake. After the LIVE I received dozens of messages asking if I give classes, that I was a natural on camera. I was a GM for a big box store at the time. Prior to this, I studied culinary arts in Kissimmee as to have something to help me raise my two daughters. I ended up opening a bakery downtown Kissimmee in 2005 which was not successful due to lack of marketing and staff. Needless to say, I failed. I went away from this world for many years until that one day in March 2019 where the passion for baking reawakened…just in a different light. Now, I teach, empower and help home bakers work legally from home and achieve their baking goals.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh, I had many struggles back when I started my bakery. Lack of funds, no budget set aside for marketing, etc. (2005-2009) Many errors by a new small business owner without any help or guidance. The biggest roadblock during my comeback in 2019 was when COVID hit in 2020. We had been in business legally for almost 8 months when the country was shut down. Now everyone was stuck at home with very little to no income. My only option was virtual classes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I LOVE what I do. In a nutshell, we teach and coach home bakers on how to legally work from home, safely produce quality products, and how to succeed in this sweet world. Our specialty are online classes. We have over 140 classes online with a cost between $5-$12. Very affordable. This started during COVID so we had to make it affordable for everyone at home with very little to no income. We’ve kept it this way since it was welcomed with open arms by all those parents trying to support a family from home. Many home bakers were created during the pandemic.

My husband found himself out of a job at that time and we needed to make it work for the family.

I do free Facebook LIVEs teaching new recipes and many with boxed cake mix so it’s easy and cost-effective. People always say my recipes are very easy and I have a knack for teaching…patience, a smile, and lots of love transmitted through the screen.

We now work as a husband-and-wife business.

Certified Business Coach

Food Safety Manager Certification

Notary services.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My goal is to continue teaching. Hopefully in the near future, we can have an academy/institute where we can have teachers come in and share their knowledge. Affordability is key!
