Hi Kourtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kourtney Zander (aka MakingMagicCo) on social media platforms. I am a travel/lifestyle content creator as well as a travel agent for Discover the Magic Vacations. I started out as a travel agent in 2016 and July will mark my 6th year as a travel agent. I started content creating as a small shop that I opened after losing my job during the pandemic. I quickly found out that I was a much better content creator than a small shop owner and decided to close up shop to focus solely on the content creator I wanted to become. Here I am today with 9.1K followers on TikTok and growing every single day. My goal is to hit 10K by the end of June and I am pretty confident I will reach that. Aside from being a travel agent and content creator I am also a wife, mother, and I have 4 different side hustles. To say I am exhausted by the end of each day is an understatement (lol)! I am where I am today because I take each day head-on. I have always been a leader and a go-getter.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Being a content creator and a travel agent has not always been sunshine and rainbows, and I would be lying if I said it has been. I’m currently a part of an amazing travel agency, Discover the Magic Vacations. They’re awesome and the owner is great! However, it did take going through some hardships before finding the perfect agency to be a part of. On the creator side of things, it has been tough and not everyone is kind in this industry. As I stated before I am a travel/lifestyle content creator but I tend to focus a lot of my content on Disney-related topics. I am a pass holder and have been visiting the Disney parks since I was 4 years old, Disney is a big part of my life. There is a Disney side of TikTok “Distok,” and it can get quite ugly on there between creators. I have been trolled by people on that app. I have had people try to get me fired from my job on that app and I have had people who I considered friends completely stab me in the back, but such is life right. When you put yourself out there as a creator you subject yourself to these types of situations, and I knew that going into it. I constantly tell myself to concentrate on self and success. We cannot allow others to tear us down. For every bad apple though comes 3 good apples, and I have also met many nice creators.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a travel/lifestyle content creator and a travel agent. I specialize my content in traveling and everyday life. I am known for traveling and Disney content. I am most proud of myself for the things I have accomplished this past year in 2021. I was the top agent for my agency in 2021. I also had the opportunity to work with multiple brands/companies as a content creator. I think what sets me apart from other creators is that I am showing my real authentic self in my content. I am not playing a character for anyone to like me. I am staying true to who I am. If you like me then you do, if you don’t then you don’t. I think what sets me apart as a travel agent from other agents is that I go above and beyond for my clients. I not only book their trips for them but I make sure everything is done and planned out. I try to make their trip as stress-free for them as possible, and I feel that the fact that 90% of my clients are returning clients speaks volumes on that.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Orlando! I love being able to visit the parks, all the fun things there is to do! I dislike the traffic on I4 and I think most people would agree with that (lol).
