Rising Stars: Meet Angela Ross and Erica Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Ross and Erica Thompson.

Hi Angela and Erica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2015 I, Angela had a dream I was pregnant. In my dream I saw a pregnancy test with the shape of a baby in the results window. I picked the test up and said wow this can’t be real. I literally woke myself up out of my dream ran to my sister Erica, and told her about my dream. Wow!! She exclaimed and with no hesitation stated why don’t we shape it like a woman. We looked at each other with excitement as if we knew we had something special. We knew that woman all around the world would be just as excited as we were. So we began to research and started the preliminary process on how to design our new pregnancy test. We found out during our research that the pregnancy test industry had not had any significant change in over the last 30 years. We wanted to be that change. We felt women needed to be represented in a more classier way and we knew this test would do that. As our journey continued, we were able to obtain a Design Patent. We also have been able to work with different partners and freelance workers, and through our own investments and dedication we were able to acquire a prototype of the Curve of life pregnancy test. We were also able to work with engineers who gave us a lot of knowledge on the process and helped ready us for manufacturing. The curve of life has not only inspired us to have a product but to start our own minority-based business called The House of Dreamz. We wanted to be able to create a platform for others to be inspired, and also bring their dreamz to reality. We are a consulting and creative business looking to help other individuals reach beyond the sky.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, it has not been a smooth road. Over the last 7 years being an inventor, we had had to pace ourselves. We have been on the verge of several licensing deals. However, COVID played a major role in some of this businesses which as a  result motivated us to continue to push our product and business ourselves. We still have hurdles to overcome. But we are not stopping anytime soon.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Our company is structured by the minds of women and designed with much class and integrity. We literally feed off of each other’s thoughts and ideas. Some of our talents include authors professional developers, writers and consultants, we inspiring others to pursue their dreamz.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
We take risk all day long. Example) When we get in our vehicles and drive, we are taking a risk. But the risk that we took to start our own business. That’s a risk that we took regardless of the economy regardless of resources and no matter what we are entrepreneurs this automatically comes with our job. If we didn’t take it who would. We wanted to take this challenge because we aren’t afraid. The thought alone of doing this on our own was so scary but we did it. The process has taught us and still is teaching us alot and we are forever grateful.
