Daily Inspiration: Meet Kellie Haddock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Haddock.

Hi Kellie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
HI! I’M KELLIE, I’M HERE TO HELP POINT YOU TO HOPE! As a former widow, I’ve lived through tragedy and found hope and joy on the other side. I write music to meet you through all life brings. My songs are pumping with hope to fuel your soul. I’m here to cheer you on every step of the way.

The Thank You Project, a short film with Orlando’s Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, features our story of gratitude after tragedy and has attracted more than 150 million views on The TODAY Show, The Huffington Post, and Cosmopolitan among other national and international media outlets.

Gratitude and Hope are choices before they’re emotions and I want to help equip you to live each day to the fullest of all that’s possible. I believe none of us make it through life on our own and I want to be someone who comes alongside you that shouts, ‘YES YOU CAN’, celebrating you for who you are: LOVED in every way that makes you unique and beautiful!

My newest album Orchids from Fire is inspired by the rare orchid that only grows after a fire. All 12 inspirational pop anthems are created to be a soundtrack for your life – for your triumphs and your trials. These songs are meant to be soaked in and listened to on repeat, powerful anthems for you to sing along with and find strength!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Every no has lead me to a better yes.

And I’ve heard ‘NO’ a lot. But instead of being defeated and paralyzed by failure and disappointment, I’ve learned to recognize these as opportunities to learn and grow. It’s propelled me forward in my work as an artist/musician/businesswoman.

We rarely learn from success, yet failure is always an excellent teacher if we’re willing to pay attention and learn what our mistakes are trying to teach us.

Our story went viral a few years back. We were on the Today Show and just about every major publication featured it – about 150 million views in total! So, I released a record (Wild Love, 2017) on the heels of this, expecting it to go viral as well.

It didn’t.

Not even close.

It flopped, failed, floundered.

It hurt. Deeply. I felt like the whole world rejected me.

But I learned from it all. I pressed in harder to write better songs, create better music.

It took courses on how to connect with my target audience.

And most importantly, I DIDN’T GIVE UP!!!

Through all of this, a freedom was born in my heart. I shifted from an attitude of striving to earn and prove my worth as a creative. To instead focusing on stewarding the gifts I’ve been given and dreams I’m so passionate about.

Stewardship and striving can look almost identical on the outside. But inside our hearts is where they diverge. One is motivated by security and contentment and the other motivated by insecurity and discontent. Stewardship moves in freedom toward excellence. Striving constrains us in bondage and fear – which also is the biggest hindrance to creativity!

So now, my focus is on stewarding the things I get to create, the work I’m passionate about as a musician and hope-giver. And the numbers matter much less to me. My heart is fulfilled and I know I’m helping others. This is (finally) enough.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Why I’m a hope-giver…

I have a powerful message of hope to share. I’m passionate to help you have hope through whatever life brings your way. I’ve been through tragedy and found joy on the other side. Through my music and message, I love helping illuminate the endless possibilities of hope all around you. With emotive melodies and strings, driving beats and uplifting lyrics my songs will invigorate your soul with an honesty that acknowledges the struggle and a perspective that points to growth and goodness.

At my concerts, through sharing stories and songs, together we embark on a unique heart engaging journey. I have a gift for helping bring healing to hurting hearts (and also for making people cry – my husband jokes that I should be sponsored by Kleenex 😭 – which is ironic because most of the time I’m quite a goofball!).

I’ve come to see these gifts as a responsibility to steward and share. I’m passionate to share this with you and am dedicated to keep showing up! There’s so much wrong and hard in the world, but I want to be a person who uses my creativity as a musician/songwriter to shine a light on all that is good and beautiful – because it’s surely all around us!

I want to help share HOPE and HEALING with EVERYONE and ANYONE who’s longing for more!!!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by always offering my best in any and every way I’m able!

The reality is, no matter how much we accomplish, there will ALWAYS be someone better.

If being THE BEST is your goal, you will likely be disappointed.

BUT… if doing YOUR BEST is the goal you will be fulfilled.

Don’t get stuck in the trap of comparing yourself to others – it is ONLY a distraction.

We each have something unique to offer that this world needs!
