Daily Inspiration: Meet Justin Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Silva.

Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in New Haven CT. Started doing comedy at age 21. Prior to comedy, I was an electrician full-time, and a server at chilis part-time. The workforce was not working out for me. After my first comedy show, I learned where I belong. I fell in love with being on the stage and making people laugh. A year and a half later, I quit my jobs. Only thing to was and is comedy. I got on stage as much as I could. Attending open mics. Performing for free at comedy shows and accepting hosting gigs for very little to no money. As an addition effort to sharing my comedy with the world, I began making content and posting on social media.

Buzz, traffic, and popularity all grew up and blew up. My beautiful girlfriend and I then decided it was time to leave Connecticut. My Queen and I then moved to Orlando. I continued to grind and am still working hard every day to become a bigger act. I have partnered up with Asad Hardwick “Supa” and we are currently producing my own touring special “A Night Of Comedy”. I want to create people’s favorite space to laugh.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating content, performing three quarters of the year and being a producer while providing for five children, and keeping the faith in making a living; while striving to be the next big thing is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Every day is a challenge to where I may just sign up for a job where pay happens more frequently. But I am committed to how I want to be paid and what I want to do. It is hard trying to figure out what is the “next thing” for my audience to go crazy over. Learning so much in the role of a producer almost feels like I have started over but except I am doing more than just performing or creating social media content. My Queen make the reminds me that the growing pains are worth it. My children keep me inspired.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Full-time comedian! I’m known for my online skits with my wife, and how organic our content is, definitely separates us from majority!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
F*CK LUCK. I studied and study my craft. I work hard and practice every day. I remain a student to in areas such as social media, performing arts, production. I have produced so much content and material over the span of five years. Some things stuck, some things did not. I believe what you put in this game is what you get out of it. I will continue to put in all that I can, with great faith that I get everything I can out of it.

I have a none stop audio playing in my head of the song “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. Although the crafts are different, I want to be the Eminem of Comedy. I want to be respected for quality content, perfect productions, viral moments while being undeniably hilarious; and at the very least, funny.
