Daily Inspiration: Meet Je-Wan Herbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Je-Wan Herbert.

Hi Je-Wan , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida I enjoy time in nature and by the ocean. In my adolescence when my parents became separated, I spent a lot of time with my aunts. Their names are Clestine & Eudine. My aunts were always encouraging me to create! One of my defining moments as a child was when I drew my own universe with beautiful stars, comets, and planets. My aunt Clestine loved my work so much she put it up on the fridge with a magnet. This was a very monumental moment for me as a child. That confidence is what would encourage me years later to continue to share my vision with the world.

Fast forward 12 years and I have just graduated from West Potomac High school in Virginia. It was at this point that I officially decided to make my dreams of becoming a professional artist a reality. I spent three years at the Art Institute of Washington. Due to timing and finances, I could not finish my time there. Feeling brave and determined, I packed everything I had and moved to Orlando, Florida in search of opportunities to take my career and passion to the next level.

Today, after four murals, a few logos, and some beautiful commissions, I find myself at the true beginnings of my journey. I’m ready to explore the depths of my creativity all while sharing perspectives with the world. It is one thing to manifest my ideas through paint and canvas, yet I also find joy in capturing the heart and mind of an individual who connects with my art on a deeper level. That connection is priceless.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
ABSOLUTLY NOT. This journey of mine is still very much so in its beginning phases. Sometimes I find it hard to continue, then I remember why I started. I remember my vision. Life is always going to throw us curve balls. These moments, are the moments that truly define us. How we handle the curve. How much further we are willing to go despite our circumstance’s.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a surreal wildlife blacklight painter. I am most known for my artist name. True J1. People say it has a nice ring to it. That, and it is closely associated to my actual name. I specialize in neon and blacklight artwork. I love the way those vibrant colors make me feel. I am most proud of my ( Chakra Neon Peacock ) masterpiece. This is a 34inch x 48inch size canvas. the inspiration came from starter a new chapter in my life. A new beginning.

Of all the things I have created & will create, I am most proud my determination to not give up on my dreams of becoming a well known and established artist to the world!

What sets me apart from others is My work that I create. They bring a sense of euphoria to its viewers that often times brings a sense of shock, then instant comfort and serenity. This is also true to my personality.
