Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Joy Nelson.
Hi Naomi, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Naomi Joy is an Author, Educator, Instrumentalist, and Speaker in Orlando, Florida. Naomi’s greatest joy is in sharing her love for God, through education, public speaking engagements, as well as music ministry, and performance events. Her wealth of wisdom and authentic presentation touches the lives of audiences in a profound way. She is anointed to bring healing and joy to others through her many gifts and her personal testimony of salvation and deliverance.
Naomi has graced audiences with a psalmist style of instrumental worship as a saxophonist and vocalist since her early childhood years in her parents’ tent revivals. She has appeared on both national radio and television broadcasts as well as performed internationally.
Naomi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University and has taught 13 years of instrumental music to include Concert & Jazz Bands as well as Orchestra for Orange County Public Schools. She is an Endorsed Artist with BARI Woodwinds and Dukoff Mouthpieces and has released 3 Music Singles entitled: “Mary, Did You Know?” “Feeling Good” and “A Sunny Christmas”. She is currently in production of her 1st album entitled “Love & Light” which is soon to be released. She is a published author of her 1st Book entitled “My Joy Journey” in which she shares her story of hope and joy through her journey of music and faith.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My Obstacles on my journey have included sexual harassment and exploitation in ministry and business. It’s included a lot of spiritual attacks and ups and downs with keeping the faith on the journey. I overcame these battles with prayer, boundaries, and a support system of supportive parents and loved ones.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Psalmist by nature and minister music to people to bring healing and usher in the presence of Jesus. Out of that ministry, I have shared that same gift in entertainment capacities to include weddings, banquets, and private and corporate events. I recently wrote my first book entitled My Joy Journey and I also share and minister to others out of my story in ministry and other public speaking occasions.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
A mentor is important and should be someone that truly believes in you and that you can trust to sincerely help you. You should seek out and pray for these relationships. They have to be sent to you or you have to seek them out. Having access to people that have wisdom and experience will be very beneficial to you in your journey.
