Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuel OverTyme Simms.
Hi Emmanuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Washington DC where I started my journey as a rap artist. I am the father of three amazing Children Ejay, Aubree, and Noah. At age 17 I was performing and touring with HipHop Legend Kurtis Blow. From there I interned at the largest recording studio in Washington DC. Gudda Musik Recording studios there I picked up everything I can learn about the music industries being able to work with phenomenal DC acts such a Wale, Shy Glizzy, and Pinky Killacorn. From there I open several successful photos studio in the city providing a place for creatives to grow and mature, all while attending university at the oldest HBCU in Washington DC, The University of the District of Columbia where I acquired my bachelor’s in political science. I joined the national honor society for Political Science and became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – Gamma Lambda Chapter. While teaching PK4 at Kipp Dc I decided to peruse my master’s at my university on scholarship for dual Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and rehabilitation counseling. During this three-year program I was able to open up my own broadcast studio in temple hills MD, OverTyme Simms Tv broadcast studio where we aired metal health content 24/7. 63 credits later in a 60-credit program I realize that I was chasing the false path and decided to come to Orlando Florida to pursue my MFA in Film Production. At this point in my career, I had created animations for Interscope records, developed the Perry’s cartoon with house legend Cece Peniston, and working alongside with Brandon T Jackson, to build KOE studios. Today I create easy-to-access mental health’ content at In Vivo Exposure LLC the Healing Network. I company I started with the mission to assist my community heal by educating them on how to think spirally and critically. I am a commercial artist who create commercial art to produce my healing content.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I will say that I have been rather privileged throughout my journey even if I wasn’t aware of it at the time. I believe self-inflicted hardships accompanied with systematic oppression and just the walls of the day can’t leave anybody uncertain about if it’s been a smooth path or a rocky road for struggles don’t last always but our perspective determines on how long they do last. When I look back at my current success it is driven by all of my mini failures and all of my small successes. So, although the journey may have been full of struggles, I can say that the road was a smooth as it was going to get. For life will always bring struggles but how I perceive them was really determine where I was at that point in my life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creativity healer and I own a life coach business where I offer executive and celebrity life coaching services. I am most known for my creativity, my willingness to educate on mental health, and my animations. The reason why I chose my animations less is because through my animations I educate on mental health and I am able to display my highest form of creativity. The Perry’s cartoon has been mentioned by CeCe Peniston on Vlad, the breakfast club, it is currently streaming on Roku on the Indie movie network. Of all of my creations and things that I’ve done and everyone of that I’ve work with my most proud creation is my children for I get to see a part of me be developed from an infant stage all the way to where they are going additionally, I get to step outside of myself and create a world that’s not completely surrounded about around me and it allows me to have even more purpose to want to design this world to what I want it to be. Lastly, when it comes to being a proud father, I enjoy watching my children develop and explore new things giving me a new perspective of how kids are actually acting not necessarily how I was treated as a kid. What sets me apart from others is I reach the master stage of self-actualization what Lawrence Kohlberg would consider the final stage of human awareness. I am willing to give the knowledge that I have heard because I believe that there is not a world for scarcity but yet we live in a world of abundance so I don’t see competition and stress but it’s inspiration. I am able to maintain a positive attitude due to techniques of healing I have healing powers deep within myself which allow me to heal others through acts of transference. And I am well aware of my spiritual gifts in calling not to say the others aren’t but that’s what makes me different.
How do you define success?
Define success as failure in a repeated form of understanding what it is that you’re actually looking for. Success is sifting out of your experiences to develop who you already are. Success is maneuvering through every obstacle in knowing that you were just testing yourself. Success to me is inner growth love and compassion for others in creation of a world where we all can have creativity freedom and healing.
