Patience, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Being able to discover your purpose at a young age is such an underrated blessing, in 2019 at the age of 23, I learned my passion for skincare was “IT”. Juggling 3 kids, a full-time job, and starting a new business isn’t a small task. The more I learned about my purpose, the more I found myself. I’ve worked jobs where I was completely miserable, unable to give my full attention to what I KNOW I was called to do, in order to provide for my young children. I felt depleted at times, but I always have pushed through because over and over, I’ve envisioned my purpose being completed. There’s purpose for this pain.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve endured almost any hardship you can think of, yet somehow, I’ve always maintained positive. That’s not to say I don’t have times where I have doubted myself or thought what I wanted required too much from me, but every setback was in my eyes a way to catapult me to the next level. The most devastating circumstances such as loss of a parent, and picking up the pieces from an abusive relationship were used to prune me.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Holistic Home. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a licensed Esthetician, graduate of Aveda 2021, I developed my own skincare for the last nearly 3 years (Aug. 2019) I specialize in acne, dark spot, discolored skincare. Handmade, vegan skincare, packed by hand and labeled by myself as well, I am also self-taught. Many hats are worn in my role as far as esthetic services I love facials, specifically dermaplaning, and waxing. The Holistic Home offers wholesale skincare, yoni care, beard and hair products, as well as self-care/body care items, where other business owners such as salon owners, barbers can offer to their clientele or sell in storefronts.
My website theholistichome.com offers a Skin Quiz that asks a few targeted questions to get the right product suggestion for you. In addition to all of this, I offer sip & shops annually, where customers can join me in a pop-up shop-style experience and interact with other patrons of my business.
Recently, I have organized an event to connect local estheticians and beauty professionals for a mixer deemed the “Skin Social” taking place July 9th, 2022.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Daily meditation keeps me grounded as well as connecting with my Christian-based fellowship group “United Dynasty” where our mentor provides daily scripture, challenges and we meet virtually weekly, as well as 6 a.m. prayer almost daily.
