Conversations with Holly Mays

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Mays. 

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my business when I was furloughed from Disney during the Pandemic. I make bath bombs, scrubs, shampoo, shower steamers, and other spa products, focusing on safe ingredients. I was accepted to a local Farmers Market with a full-time spot that led to an even bigger market in downtown Clermont. Then I started to do special event markets around central Florida. I loved hanging out with fellow vendors and talking to the community. I started to have regular customers come back each week and fell in love with what I was doing. From there my business has evolved to what it is today and I couldn’t be happier. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I definitely had some learning curves along the way and my products have only gotten better with each one. I struggled with believing that I was making great products, it took me a while to really believe in myself. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make natural and eco-friendly spa products. I love doing customs orders, which sometimes become staples. I’m so proud of the fact that I actually started a business that my daughter watch and help me with. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is that I really just want to make my customers happy. I listen to their needs and that is where my best work comes from. 

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how close everyone is, and how supportive they are. I hate how hot it is in the summer.
