Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Ramos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Ramos.

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the Hair Industry for 33 years! I have always loved hair, art, theater, and design. I was very fortunate to have parents who recognized that conventional school life was not working for me. They let me start trade school at 16 and the day after my 17th birthday I graduated and have been working in the industry ever since. I am always interested in education both for stylists and clients. I have been an educator for Paul Mitchell, as well as salons. David James, Nube Nove, and now with the Mosaic Hair family. I have created and worked on many design teams and am so honored to have been able to share the stage with many hair giants in our industry right here in Orlando as well as in other states. My focus now is on growing with the Mosaic Company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, there are always challenges in work life. I would say one of the biggest and most recently has been Covid protocols and trying to be able to achieve the best results for my clients while working around masks. We are as artists always working to create looks that work for all facets of our client’s lives. Working on them in the salon while they are in a mask isn’t giving them a face shape that is best for them. When they go home and go on zoom it’s a very different look sometimes. I think my history of working on so many local news celebrities has really helped me to understand clients’ needs in front of the camera and how to coach them on getting their best look when I’m not there to style for them. Of course, safety is first and I’m always thankful we are working and will continue to do so!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This is tricky, I have been a part of some really great design teams and shows through the years. I think I am most proud of the fact that my kids have been able to grow up with me in the show environment. They have always been a part of my work. Modeling for us from very young ages. I have worked with so many incredible choreographers, dancers, musicians, and stylists both in hair and fashion. This has given my kids as well as myself a wonderful community of artists to collaborate with and still to this day work with. Now in my work life, I think the thing that sets me apart is that I really am invested in the people around me. I love doing color and cutting etc. I think we all do but what gives me the most joy is seeing new and growing stylists and artists achieve end results in a new and less time-consuming way. Having a strong background, I can help in cases where others might struggle.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I think inspiration comes in many forms. I use the Wella color app all the time it’s an industry leader. I also use a few color forums for cross-checking. For positive reinforcement, I’m a huge Wayne Dyer fan and Dr. Romie fan as well.

For inspiration, however, I’m always listening to and soaking up as much as I can from our rising stars in the salon as well as my younger nieces and nephews! They keep me young and interested in what’s coming next in the industry.

I was a client of Jen Ramos for over 20 years. The BEST stylist in Orlando! The only reason I don’t have her now is because I moved to WV. If you are looking for someone with knowledge in regards to everything hair, Jen is your girl! RUN TO MOSAIC and book with Jen Ramos! ❤️
