Daily Inspiration: Meet Rebecca Fry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Fry.  

Hi Rebecca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in the “Conway” section of Orlando, I was always artistically inclined, and my parents always encouraged that part of me. Whether it be Drawing, Painting, and making pottery. After Being diagnosed later with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I found that it was therapeutic for me to do arts and crafts. After an Insomnia induced trip to Wal-Mart, and about $150 dollars’ worth of crafting supplies purchased, “Frankenstein Designs” was brought to life in 2008. 

Frankenstein Designs was always supposed to be a side hustle, to supplement my main income. But through the twists and turns my life had taken me on, it has always, helped keep me afloat, financially. 

So, in March of 2020, after giving birth to my daughter, Raven. I found myself unable to work, due to Covid-19. So, I “Worked” in a different way. I started making Jewelry again. In March of 2021, a close family member who’s been having medical issues. She has been battling this since 2004. So, I have been helping her, as well as taking care of my daughter. 

In May of this year, I Vended at Conway Community Market, a Local Market event held in Barber Park, every third Sunday. 

For the Future, I plan to vend at WJRR’s Earthday Birthday, Comic-Con, Spooky Empire, as well as other Pop-Up Market Events, in the Central Florida area. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not being able to vend due to covid Balancing taking care of a newborn, my mother, and running a business 

Implementing Successful Marketing Strategies for social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I Design and Make custom beaded jewelry. Also, make custom art. I am known for making each item as a One-of-A kind, which you won’t find anywhere else Because I make my Jewelry with Vintage beads no longer in production. 

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in the Conway area, I was an energetic child, who was into Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, and Rainbow Bright. As a teenager I was very much into reading, my favorite Poet/Author is Edgar Allen Poe. I became enthralled with the Gothic Subculture and music. Also was very much into Fine and studio art and design.
