Meet Musaholic Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Musaholic Magazine.

Musaholic Magazine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I, Nolan Fisher, founded Musaholic Magazine just recently, on July 11th actually. I got the idea to start my own online publication after having been a photographer for one my friend had created. Running a publication was never my dream, but I’ve grown to really enjoy it, and I’m having lots of fun growing up along with Musaholic. Here are some words from some of our contributors: Emily Smith (Writer): “I wanted to be a part of Musaholic as I wanted to gain experience of what it’s like working for a publication. I want to go to university and study journalism and thought this would be the perfect opportunity I couldn’t refuse.”

Day Connor Adams (Social Media Manager & Photographer): “I’ve been working within the music industry for five months, though with little time in the industry, I already had photography and writing skills from past experiences within high school yearbook and my local newspaper. I’ve been using social media for many years so managing Musaholic’s socials was an easy job to pick up. I’m thankful to be with such an amazing publication.”

Sophia Tutti (Writer & Interviewer): “Musaholic is my first experience in the creative industry, and I couldn’t be more grateful for Nolan trusting me to be a part of her project. Working with Musaholic has helped me become more confident in myself, my writing, and my knowledge. Working with Musaholic has also helped me feel like I belong somewhere in the music/creative industry.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A struggle we’ve had recently is trying to find contributors who have the time to, well, contribute. We have plenty of interviewers, but we’re a bit short on writers. As an online publication, I feel like writers are the most important piece, and it’s been a struggle on that end.

Aside from that, it seems to be a smooth ride so far.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Musaholic Magazine is an online publication that does music reviews (song, album, & life), music news articles, live show photo galleries, and interviews. I’m very proud of how quickly we got up and running and how much we have done in such a short amount of time. I feel like we have a unique perspective, especially with having a team that is not all in the same area, culturally, artistically, and location-wise.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Day: “Networking for me definitely involves going to concerts and talking to the staff of either the venue or the tour. Break out of your comfort zone and honestly, just go for it. I found two of my mentors from concerts, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything.”
