Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Walt.
Hi Andrew, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been an artist. I’ve worked in many mediums over my life and spent a fair amount of time with amateur video. A few years ago, a friend of mine needed video assistants for his wedding and asked me to come along. A couple weddings later, and he loaned me a camera to go find my creative eye. I decided to talk to a few of my friends and set up my first photoshoot out in a cattle field. After editing that first shoot, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop. The next week I went and picked up my first camera.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
By far, this hasn’t been an easy process. There have been creative slumps, financial hurdles, and the continuing battle of self-marketing. But the one thing that remains constant is my love for this art form. I love the challenge of hearing a client’s vision and bringing it into focus!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creative portraits, cosplay, and animal photography! Although I do also spend a lot of personal time in the parks, as I used to work in the entertainment departments of Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld, I enjoy capturing the incredible moments from entertainment offerings throughout. But if I have to narrow my favorite part of being a photographer, it would be creating unique portraits using natural light, and I am very proud of some of the true art pieces that I have envisioned.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in Minnesota! A lot of my favorite memories take place on the north shore! My family would camp and hike up and down Lake Superior! My grandpa was also a Wildlife photographer, so my entrance into photography has really come full circle for me.
