Check Out Vanessa Ferguson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Ferguson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The DisLove Podcast with Vanessa and Kris started in 2018 after we had a 10th-anniversary vow renewal at Epcot. Vanessa started sharing images of the vow renewal on Instagram and discovered the vast community of Disney-inspired vendors. As an avid Disney podcast listener, she was surprised she didn’t know about these small shops until she discovered them online herself. She talked to Kris about having a podcast that shared the stories of these vendors with the greater Disney community. We have a long history  with Disney after having our wedding at Epcot in 2008 and sharing many family vacations there before our vow renewal. We started reaching out to shops to be on our show and it grew from there. We have a simple format with a 25–35-minute show that is released biweekly. We periodically host trivia contests and other events to engage our audience, but our main goal is to share the stories of the creative minds in the greater Disney community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have had a smooth road so far on our journey with the podcast. We have focused on providing good quality content on a consistent basis. We found a schedule that works well while balancing our everyday life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our podcast showcases our love for Disney while featuring amazing vendors, service providers, and products that are designed to make our listener’s next Disney trips even more magical. From vacation planners to product producers, our guests add Disney magic into people’s lives. Our account launched in May 2018 with our first podcast being produced in October 2018 with new episodes released every 2 weeks. The podcast has released over 115 episodes (as of August 2022) with 6,000 downloads from locations around the globe. We have nearly 5,900 followers on Instagram and reach on average, 16,000 accounts on Instagram every month.

Most episodes include a segment with Walt Disney World travel tips followed by a vendor interview. We’ve showcased 75 small businesses since our show launched. Every episode ends with a trivia segment and a quote from Walt Disney. We are most proud of keeping the podcast moving forward throughout all the changes in our life from bringing our daughter home from India to making it through the pandemic; we have still managed to keep the content going. We are also proud of sharing the stories of all the amazing people who have been guests on the show. Something that sets us aside from others is our unique interactions together as hosts.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love all the variety of things to do in Orlando. From going to a theme park to enjoying an afternoon at a farmer’s market or a unique restaurant, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The thing that we like the least about the city is probably the traffic. Coming from the Midwest, we are not used to the sheer volume of traffic in Orlando.
