Rising Stars: Meet Baby Bliss Feeding Collaborative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Baby Bliss Feeding Collaborative.

Hello Baby Bliss Feeding Collaborative, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We are a team of licensed medical professionals with a combined over 50 years of experience helping families overcome challenges in the prenatal, postpartum, and infant phases of life. We were each practicing in a collaborative care model, but the parents had to travel to many different offices to receive all the services. We decided to better serve our community; we could work together and offer co-treatments as well as intensive camps for families near and far. Baby Bliss stands for: Bodywork and Lactation, Integrating Sensory and Support Each of our providers carries a specific set of skills in infant feeding. When combined, it creates the Ultimate treatment modality to help babies thrive, and families learn what they need! We know that babies use their whole body to feed; therefore, the approach we use addresses the various causes of feeding difficulty – from their head to their toes!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our first instinct is to treat the family as a whole unit while keeping the baby gaining weight and healthy as well as teaching parents how to care for their baby/babies. Due to thriving and requested patient caseloads, one major struggle is finding the time to learn learning the ins and outs of how to run a collaborative business. Remember, we are first health care providers; they do not teach finance and entrepreneurial business skills in our course curriculum at university. We are continuing to learn how to run a successful business and have some great mentors. Finding the right space was important, we wish our meeting room was a little bigger. starting this business was self-funded

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

We want to be the one-stop-shop support system all parents need for their growing families. Shana has 10 years of experience in the pediatric setting and 5yrs serving in the NICU as an Occupational Therapist She is a certified TOTs (tethered oral tissues) provider specializing in oral motor neurorehabilitation and neurodevelopmental treatment. She is devoted to continuing education to provide state of the art evidenced based care to all her families and teaching them new skills they can use with their babies to optimize growth and development. Annette has over 34 years of experience in the home health, pediatric/ postpartum setting as a Registered Nurse and over 27yrs as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She is trained in craniosacral therapy through the Up-ledger Institute and works with the family from pregnancy, birth, siblings, and adults. She enjoys working with the whole family to improve their state of wellness and to educate them on how to seek knowledge on managing their growth and optimal state of physical as well as mental health.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting the business as self-funded and promoting our self-pay concierge model of care is always a challenge. Renting a space while relying on our reputations in the community to bring the patients into us. We have always independently worked on a personal referral basis; “word of mouth” has been our biggest advertiser.
