Daily Inspiration: Meet Zero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zero.

Hi Zero, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
SkzinFlorida started with one goal in mind. “To connect Florida, Stay” And we definitely achieved that. Back in October 2021, we realized that there was a hole missing in Floridas Kpop Event industry. We saw the opportunity and ran with it. There are no other event group in Florida that focus solely on Stray Kids. And we don’t just plan events, our mission now is to Connect Stay to each other all over the state of Florida. We do this by supporting any and all hosts that plan Stray Kids events. Our social media presence has grown so much that we’ve become the main promoter for this group. By promoting their events on our account, we were able to be the one place where people can find out about the Stray Kids events around the state. With our home base in Orlando, we’ve expanded to 3 other locations (Tampa, Jacksonville, and South Florida). The response was overwhelmingly positive. We decided to establish a volunteer program, and the support for this program has been incredible. Fans of the kpop group “Stray Kids” from all over the State have been volunteering their time and energy all for the happiness of others. SkzinFlorida has grown tremendously since April. We’re always looking for more ways to improve and more effective systems to implement. I’m very excited to see where the future takes us.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been easy at all. When we first decided to create this event group in October 2021, we were a team of three. After a few months, we decided to take on two more people to help us lessen the burden. The now team of 5 decided to go our separate ways in early April. I was left with just myself and the desire to keep creating events that connected fans. Why? Because it made them happy. The positive response to the work we had done in the past fueled my commitment to what we had going. I didn’t want to give it up just yet. After a few weeks of pondering how to reimagine the brand and realigning our values, I decided to rebrand the organization. The rebrand was successful and received attention from fans we weren’t able to reach before. By July 1st, SkzinFlorida was back up and running with the help of a host from South Florida. We decided we really wanted to do this and be ambitious about it. Our online presence started growing fast, and we realized we wouldn’t be able to staff both event locations (in Davie and Orlando) without some help. I decided to create a volunteer program, and suddenly “I” became “We.” Skzinflorida became an organization that is built and run on the collaborative efforts from fans all over the state.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a 22-year-old college student attending Valencia College. I’m majoring in Marketing and Small Business management with certifications in Entrepreneurship. I work as a freelance graphic designer, product designer, and event host. In my free time, I take event staffing jobs organized by various companies.

Enough about me; Skzinflorida is a team. We are known for being the only active Stray Kids fan base in the state.

Personally, most proud of the community we have created. Guests come to these events to meet people with similar interests and make friends. I’m also extremely proud of the team. We’ve all been working really hard to expand to multiple locations throughout Florida. The fans that once felt ignored and overlooked are finally being listened to and heard. We want to be known for connecting the Stays that live here together.

These values set us apart from all the other fanbases in our area. We are committed to growing and reaching everyone.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The event industry is always changing. Since we focus on our niche which is Kpop, I’ll speak about that. Kpop has gained global traction and exploded in the US market. I think we will notice an increase of hosts and events for a variety of groups. I hope some more hosts pop up for Stray Kids so that we can support them. Covid-19 really killed in-person events for quite a while, and people are still wary about them. So, in the next 5-10 years, I think it would be nice if we could return to a time where people can go out and enjoy events again.

I don’t see Kpop losing popularity within this timeframe. There will always be new groups debuting and more fans to follow.
