Today we’d like to introduce you to Wagner Krohling.
Hi Wagner, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We’re a small local farm in Kissimmee, FL. We started 2 years ago. Our laying hens live free-range and play outside for many hours during the day to lay high-quality and nutritional eggs for our family, neighbors, and the community. Princess Flock has a balanced and healthy diet. Their menu includes tropical grass seeds, grains, bugs, worms, and everything they need for a happy and healthy life! We make sure our hens are provided with the best living conditions. Princess Flock has plenty of access to fresh water, forage, and pasture area prepared with a unique tropical mix of seeds such as flax, quinoa, vetch, buckwheat, and clover so they can peck around all day long. It means happier and healthier hens to lay the most nutritious eggs for our family and yours. We believe that healthy soil is the basis for healthy food production.
On our farm, the chickens’ poo is used to make one of the best natural fertilizers in the world: chicken manure. According to the University of Florida, chicken manure has essential plant nutrients, especially nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). After composting the chicken manure for months, we use it to make the tropical grass mix grow stronger to increase the quality of the Flock’s nutritional intake. The Krohling family left Germany to start a new beginning in the Americas. Some of them migrated to the US, others to Argentina, and the 18 years old Johann Heinrich Kröhling went o Brazil in 1859 and successfully founded a new city in the countryside. His descendants became experienced and prosperous farmers (growing coffee, banana, cocoa, and vegetables), scholars, local politicians, and business people. After our farmer Wagner graduated in Business Administration, he worked for more than ten years in one of the largest chocolate producers in the world, acquired by Nestle S.A . Wagner loves what he does and started Princess Flock as a hobby to provide to his family, neighbors, and friends with the most delicious and nutritious fresh eggs in town.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
People around the farm love to buy our products because of their nutritional value and superior taste.
We’ve been impressed with Princess Flock, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Princess Flock is a local urban farm. We take care of our chickens differently from those raised at huge factory confinement houses and vertically integrated professional farms; our chickens are pasture raised. We sell farm-fresh eggs to people interested in a healthier lifestyle through better eating habits.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
There is always room for growth if you help people improve their health and nutrition with a superior-quality product.
