Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Adona.
Hi Chloe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for performing. When I was 4, I started with local theater and dancing classes. As I got older, I was introduced to on-camera acting. I liked that style of acting more and continued to pursue my career. I began to take vocal lessons as I wanted to share my gift of singing more professionally. Around 10, I was getting self-tape auditions from lead roles to co-stars. In January 2021, I booked my dream role of “009” on Stranger Things!
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a fun journey for me. However, there were some struggles I had to work through. One of them is balancing my life as an actress and a regular 14-year-old. Sometimes I would have to give up birthday parties and vacations to film a project or record an audition. Situations like those still come up, but I’ve understood that with choosing to pursue an acting career, there are things I will need to skip. Nevertheless, it will have been worth it in the long run.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actress, singer, and songwriter. I can be seen in Comedy Central’s Robbie (2020), Netflix’s Stranger Things 4 (2022), and Universal Pictures’ upcoming American horror-comedy film, Renfield (April 2023), starring Nicholas Holt as Renfield and Nicolas Cage as Dracula. As a singer, I released a new single, Villain, in August 2022, and I am grateful for the positive response to this track. I wrote this song when I was 12 years old after being betrayed by people I thought were my best friends. I was excited to partner with Emmy-nominated songwriting and production duo Doug Rockwell and Tova Livtin to co-write and produce this song. I have been a fan of their work on Disney’s Zombies 2 and Netflix’s Julie and The Phantoms. It was an honor to work with them. I’ve been professionally acting for 4 years and am so fortunate for all the opportunities in acting. I work with my vocal coach and mentors, who believe in me and continue to guide me along this journey.
What do you think about risk?
Risk-taking sets you up for the opportunity. I have been in theater and dance since age 4. I practically lived in the studio and the theater after school. After getting a taste of on-camera acting, I took a risk and gave up the theater life, not knowing how much success I would/wouldn’t have as an on-camera actor. But I stuck with it, and it opened up a world of opportunities. I had just turned 12 when I booked the role of 009 in Stranger Things 4, which required me to get a buzz cut. As a new middle schooler, the thought of buzzing off 22 inches of hair was terrifying. But I couldn’t pass up such a significant role to be on one of my favorite tv shows with a recurring role in 5 episodes! Taking healthy risks allows you to see capabilities you otherwise would not know you have.
