Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashida Sims.
Hi Rashida, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Est. 2018 in Maryland: After being involved in a car accident, I was rear-ended, suffered back/leg injuries, and could not return to work as a nurse for several months. However, my son (Ty) and I began selling gently used clothes and accessories at local flea markets to make ends meet. With that being said, I drew closer to my love for entrepreneurship. As a result, I obtained my official business license and started Shee Boutique! We’re family-owned, providing merchandise throughout states in America. Shee Boutique offers unique and trendy items for fashion-forward looks. You’ll find the latest trends for misses/women’s contemporary styles.
We look forward to giving you the best customer service experience as you visit our online store or meet us at one of our local events (Pop-Up Shops). I am currently based in Orlando, Florida. We look forward to meeting you!
Meet our staff:
Owner: Rashida “Shee.”
Co-Owner: Rashaad “Ty” (owner’s son)
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Many challenges were faced because I suffered from chronic back/leg pains and had to go through several rounds of physical therapy and receive pain medication by mouth, plus injections in my back and right leg. Although the pain never completely went away, I persevered! I learned as much as possible about the business and began communicating with wholesale companies to find the best merchandise for my boutique. With that being said, I met some good business people as well as not-so-good and reliable ones, but even with setbacks, it has still been a good learning experience and many sales later. I’m still pursuing the boutique business. In conclusion, I managed to conduct business even in pain with a smile on my face! So my advice to any new entrepreneur; put God first, focus on your goals and keep going no matter what!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I graduated from nursing school in 2009. Since then, I’ve worked with patients from age 1 to over 100 years old with all different levels of health issues. I’m currently working in Orlando, Florida, as a home health care Pediatric Nurse for medically fragile children and running my online boutique business. I’m most proud of myself because I recently relocated from my home state Maryland to Florida, which was a long-term goal for me after years of planning. I’m thankful to be living My Dreams!
What sets me apart from others is that I’m genuine and put my all into the things I love. Praises God for giving me the strength to pursue all my goals/dreams! I will stop once I’ve completed a goal. Nursing is my calling, but fashion is my passion.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Hairstyling and fashion have always been involved in my life. Born in Queens, New York, and raised in Baltimore, MD. I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I began styling hair and developed a love for fashion at around 6 years old, playing with my Barbie Dolls. After that, in my teenage years, I would style my hair, and people would compliment me; then, my entrepreneurial skills kicked in because I started styling my family and friends’ hair for a fee. Shee-Shee was my nickname in my early teens, so I named my business after me and my love for fashion “SHEE BOUTIQUE.”
