Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Mosley.
Hi Rose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, thank you for having me, I’m happy to be here. I started in the beauty industry as an apprentice of a student of Vidal Sassoon in England. Shortly after I finished a 5-year apprenticeship, I moved to California. I had the opportunity to work in Oprah Magazine and other smaller publications. We have been in the Orlando area for a year. I left a very successful independent business to come here. I knew only my family, and then I met another Hairdresser from the UK, Alex, who is an Angel that dresses up as a hairstylist, she has become a really good friend; she opened up her salon in March and offered me a room to rent to operate my business. I was working in Dr. Phillips at a high-end salon at the time, that closed in June. I was very disappointed as I was building up quickly there, we had a celebrity clientele. Thankfully my clients followed me. Alex told me, “it will work out, come to the salon, she said; she had always wanted to work with another English hairdresser since being in the US. So now hairdresser Alex, another Alex (she does waxing), and I all work together in the most peaceful salon ever.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Hmm. well, let me think; a friend once told me, “if you fell in a pond you would still come out with fish in your pockets” lol. So no matter the challenges, and there have been some, I keep on going, I have faith, and I trust the process; not saying that it’s not hard sometimes, but I always believe something good will come out of something bad it may take a short time it may take a long time, but it will happen. I have the support of a lovely husband and daughter as well so that always helps. I tell my daughter that speech all the time, lol.
Thanks for sharing that. So, could you tell us a bit more about your business.
I am an independent hairdresser under the name of Vintage Rose Hairdressing Studio. I rent a room inside Alex Leagus hairdressing. Alex is my very good friend, whom I met after moving to Orlando. I specialize in precision hair cutting and custom coloring. I use primarily Italian hair color. I love cutting short/shorter hair; I could do that all day long; you can still trust me with your long hair. I listen very carefully to what you like and don’t like, lol. I love love the company and the product I use. The training I received in the UK under an apprentice of Vidal Sassoon set me up for my career as a hairdresser in the US. I started in California and am now here in West Orlando.
Any big plans?
As far as I know, there are not any big changes in my future; moving across the country was a big enough change, dealing with throat cancer shortly after, then a few salons moves. I’m the type that stays in one salon. I do not move around if I can help it. I am not ready for more change at this time, lol.
