Today we’d like to introduce you to Anyelica Melendez.
Hi Anyelica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At first, I wanted to be a journalist, but through different experiences and meeting new people and entrepreneurs, my goals shifted to a permanent position. I was always surrounded by entrepreneurs and never worked a ‘regular’ job (always in small businesses), which also affected my goals change. KING Establishers started as a “what if?” since it was an idea that grew in my heart, but I never planned on starting it until after I graduated from college. The idea behind this business was (and still is) to help small business owners establish their unique purpose through the many uses of digital marketing. Still, it was kept as a dream rather than an action plan. Yet, many things happened that aligned with the fact that I had to launch the business. On June 10, 2020, I launched it against all odds, and it was honestly the start of a great adventure that continues. I started with an old laptop and a camera that a dear friend gifted me. Eventually, I started investing in equipment since I wanted to be prepared for when I got my first booking. Many things have happened along those lines, but now I am getting closer and closer to a new chapter that involves growth, development, and prosperity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would be lying if I said it was a smooth road. I will not get into details, but I will mention things that affected the process. For example, imposter syndrome was one of the biggest struggles. People rarely speak openly about how discouraging and negative this is for an entrepreneur. Sometimes, it was difficult for me to talk about my business and to even promote it on social media due to the thoughts of being seen and labeled as a fraud or failure. I was ignorant and immature then, so I became my worst enemy. I would let gossip, others’ issues, and personal thoughts block me from enjoying many milestones. This led to moments of stress and anxiety, which made me self-aware of how hard an entrepreneurial life can be. Oh, believe me! It is the best thing ever, but it is a challenging route to take. It requires discipline, responsibility, and many other things, but most importantly, peace of mind. Obstacles are inevitable, so I learned that the hard way, and it took me a little while to understand the struggles and how to deal with them. All struggles were worth it because there would be no growth without them.

KING Establishers is a business focused on digital marketing services. Within this industry, we provide a variety of services that can be listed under the following: branding, graphic design, video/photography, and social media management. In other words, we provide services like content production, product photography, logo design, brand management, and drone footage. Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
Well, I do not believe in luck. I do not think anything happens by chance. Everything has a purpose in life, and it happens when the right time comes. As our business slogan says, “Establishing purpose, one voice at a time.”
