Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Romero.
Hi Marvin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was four, my dad took me to a studio, and we made a song together. I was so nervous but hooked at the same time. After that day I remember thinking about music differently. Hearing it differently. As I got older, I went on to take piano lessons and excelled quickly, unfortunately, I stopped because I thought it wasn’t cool. I regret that so much now. From there I went on to play the violin for seven-plus years from 6th grade to the day of my graduation from high school. I guess where my story really starts is after high school. I taught myself how to make beats on my phone in garage band from pure boredom. Started showing my friends and we would mess around with the beats and attempt to rap on them with the little bit of courage we had. Some time goes by, and I asked for FL Studio for my birthday. I started to take music more and more serious. Studying those that I idol and those that I don’t. Taking advice from everyone but using what is useful and discarding what was not. I started to get more technical and experiment more. But what really got me to where I wanted to be at the time was creating every day. This lead to me being able to release a couple of projects here and there with friends or even by myself at times. Although I was putting in the necessary work, I wasn’t getting the feedback I was looking for. Then one day my dad told me I should look at going to school in Florida for music, which brings us to the present day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say it’s a smooth road with a decent amount of potholes and speedbumps. Sound quality was a big issue for me when I started. I had poor mix and mastering quality, but I wanted to do it myself. I still do it myself and with time comes improvement and my quality has definitely gotten better. Still not at the level I think I can be at but I stuck with it. I wanted my mixes to compete with industry-standard songs and surpass that. To the point that the industry looks at me as the pinnacle. Networking has also been a struggle in the pass. Not so much now since I’m surrounded by a bunch of creatives and like-minded people these days.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So, I’m a producer, engineer, vocalist, writer, instrumentalist, and all-around creative. I’m most proud of my growth/progress from when I started to “now” because I haven’t always been all of these names. Some were added on later into me figuring out what I wanted to do and be. What sets me apart from others is my unique experiences in life and learning from it. All the hardships and all the good days you know.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
