Today we’d like to introduce you to Special Jennings.
Hi Special, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started playing basketball in 7th grade. Played at East Tech High School and graduated from Lutheran High School East. Played 4 years at Xavier University. Played 3 years professionally in Europe. Retired and started coaching. Started out at Wright State, with other stops at Augusta University, Flagler College, and The University of Illinois at Chicago.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Success is never smooth. The start in my opinion was the hardest because I had to adjust from being a player to now being a coach.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
High School basketball Head Coach. My day-to-day is to make sure that my players are attending classes and making great grades. We lift weights 3 times a week and practice Monday-Saturday. I specialize in helping my players reach their full potential.
My most proud moments are having all my seniors graduate high school and attend college.
The difference between myself and a ton of other coaches is that my goal is not to just win basketball games; my goal is for every kid I coach to win at life!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think if you do the right things and carry yourself the right way, networking and mentors will follow.
