Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenifer Guadalupe.
Hi Jenifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my nail career in 2004. I went to Puerto Rico, took a nail course there, and fell in love with nails. After a few months, I came back to the states and continued my nail journey. My journey has taken me from working in high-end spas from Palm Beach to Las Vegas and traveling to different resorts to open up flagship spas as a corporate nail tech trainer. Landing me where magic happens in Walt Disney World. I landed a dream job most would say as a nail tech at Senses a Disney Spa. I also became a nail tech trainer at the spa, helping them elevate with product recommendations and new techniques.
March of 2020… when the world slowly started to shut down, the spa team was the first team to be sent home with no return date. A week turned into a few months allowing me to watch more tv and YouTube landing me to become obsessed with dry manicures. I slowly started purchasing new supplies and working on my nails. Towards the end of 2020, I had a few clients and friends reaching out to me to do their nails and I started working from home. What really set off my business was a Facebook group called “Ears for Each Other” where Disney cast members were posting about their talents and what they were offering. A little light bulb went off, I purchased all things needed to provide in-home/hotel and Airbnb mani/pedis. I would post often, and my business just took off from there in early 2021, working my way around the Disney area to then expanding my services to local Orlando, where I quickly gained more local clientele.
August of 2022. I decided to open up a nail suite in Downtown Orlando. A scary decision but a leap of faith. I manifested what I wanted and executed. I was no longer providing mobile nail services as my main goal was to be a local nail tech providing clients with exclusive and exceptional services as well as introducing them to a healthier way of nail care. I have taken extensive classes to master my skills and now I’m blessed to say that my dreams came through as a business owner with a high clientele retention. Mid-August of 2022 I made the decision to move to the Lake Nona area and create an at home nail studio. A space where my clients can feel comfortable, have privacy, and know they will always have the best service I can provide with professional products as well as clean implements.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As a small business owner, it’s never a smooth road. Often, I found myself up late at night doing research on how to build a proper business, from taxes to marketing to customer retention and so on. The biggest struggle is always behind-the-scenes inventory, marketing, problem solver, managing time, and setting boundaries.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Dry Structured Manicures. A dry structured manicure is a waterless mani with high attention to detailed cuticle work. An E-file with diamond bits is used to safely remove the overgrown cuticle without harming the natural nail and the skin. The structured part of the manicure is the gel involved. It’s not your typical gel that is like polished, this is a thicker gel used to add strength and protect the nail. The rubber gel or hard gel could be completely removed by being filed down and re-structured, this allows for your nails to stay strong, and you can either keep them short or grow them out longer.
What I’m mostly known for is detailed work. I take my time and pay attention to the smallest of details. I don’t rush through any of my services and thrive on providing a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I live on TikTok! Lol, the app is just so informative at times of course but I find so many inspirational ideas as well as nail supplies that I’m often purchasing. I follow a lot of dope nail artists that support one another, which is so rare in this industry.
