Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Martinez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since a kid, I’ve always loved high-energy activities & being surrounded by that. I was also told in school by most of my teachers that I would never succumb to anything & I’d be a failure in life. As a child, I would keep hearing this due to my ADHD & not being able to sit still for long.
I was diagnosed with ADHD & misdiagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome at age 7. That brought along anxiety, depression & I was heavily medicated taking 4-8 pills at a time. My parents did they best they can which is why I’m so anti-pharma. I finally stopped taking medication at age 24 to find a better route.
I was working at a full-time job with a salary & benefits from 23-25 years old at a corporate cruise line call center. That was the worst time of my life. I hated every single minute of it. I drank heavily, I ate like crap & had no direction. I also dropped out of school 3 years prior with a 1.6pga. I hit rock bottom in 2015. I was homeless for almost 2 weeks & decided I wanted more.
In the next year, I contemplated on committing suicide multiple times. I had no friends; family was out of the picture & I moved to the middle of nowhere. In the Appalachian Mountains is where I learned about nutrition, movement & mindfulness. There is where my journey began.
I started exercising, eating real food & meditating in late 2016. Taking care of my body with movement led me to go back to school in 2017 to learn even more! This is all without medication & remembering what those teachers & my peers told me. I graduated from Miami Dade College in 2019, then got accepted to the University of Central Florida. I graduated from UCF in 2021 with a 3.77 GPA (left college with a 1.6 GPA) in Kinesiology & Human Performance at the age of 31 years old.
I started Chaotic Training in 2021 with my motto as “Movement is Medicine” from my living room. Now, I have a full gym in my garage with 5 amazing Chaotic Training babies that I’ve been able to help improve their life due to movement. I specialize in helping individuals going through a rough time in their life to utilize exercise better eating habits & mindfulness to improve their daily life. I also specialize in Functional Training & general fitness.
I continue down this path to show the world that anyone can do anything if they really work for it. I have no idea if this business will succeed, but I for sure as hell know I won’t quit. I love what I do with such a passion that just thinking of quitting makes me think of all those people suffering that can use some of Chaotic Training. What a failure I am! Truly my former teachers & peers were the best teachers to show you that only you can do anything you put your mind to.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! Sometimes I would be worried about not having enough money for food or rent. I’d have so much anxiety at that time on whether clients would want my services, how will I find these clients, will they even pay & will I be successful. Mostly overthinking.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m still in the beginning stages as I’ve only had this for a year & I love what I do. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE, an Exercise Physiologist & I graduated with a B.S from UCF in Kinesiology. I coach & personal train clients in a private gym setting 1 on 1 which allows for more efficient training session. I specialize in Functional Training, Fat Loss, Hypertrophy & HIIT. I am extremely experienced working with individuals having ADHD, anxiety, depression & low self-esteem. I’m most proud that I didn’t quit learning & brought Chaotic Training into fruition. I want your readers to know I know what it feels like to have low self-esteem & not know the direction to take in life. Not feeling the best physically, mentally, or emotionally means your inner warrior wants to change & there are people that would love to help those individuals transform themselves to be better.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned people really want to be free to interact & still enjoy life. Being secluded & in isolation is so harmful to the human spirit. It’s more harmful to emotional & mental health than physical. People have a need to active whether it’s physical, social, mental & so on.
