Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Casalduc.
Hi Christian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Christian John Casalduc I am the owner of John Jackson Media and Video and Photography business that specializes in events and promotional work. I shoot events such as weddings, birthday parties, quinceanera, and more I also work with local businesses in the Orlando area to create amazing commercials and videos to help them in reaching the wide audience that they deserve!
I had always had a passion for videos as long as can remember I use to create small videos at home of my Legos and write stories that I tried to act out and show to friends in the family for a long time I wanted to be a YouTuber. Making whacky fun videos was always what I spent most of my time doing. after a couple of years into high school, I wanted to take video-making more seriously and eventually started writing, directing acting, and creating my short films. This is the time when I gained most of my editing skills by studying effects and how to edit better for visual storytelling.
After high school I had gone to try and make it as a small short film creator to no luck, in the small town of Fort Myers, I found no space to grow as a creator with no places hiring for video or film or anywhere as such. I knew I had to go elsewhere to make my dreams happen and I most certainly made the right move.
In 2020 I moved to Orlando to attend F.IR.S.T Institute where I would go to make dozens of projects from music videos, short films, events, and more here is where I went to double down on my passion for video-making as it is where I had gotten to do my first ever commercial project this is what helped me find my path as filming for a clothing brand had opened my eyes to how fun commercial work is. I had then ventured out during my time in film school to shoot promos for a couple of small businesses in the Orlando area.
During this time where I was asked about shooting an event for one of my clients, this event is what would soon lead to the creation of John Jackson media as being able to capture live raw emotions of people living out some of their best moments was far more meaningful than whatever fake story I could have people act out. As much as I loved the idea of making a movie, the ability to turn a real-life moment into that movie felt far more important and meaningful as this way I was able to give people an experience they could live out for years and years that was specific and meaningful to them!
With this in mind, I knew I wanted to do two things film events and have fun making commercials and helping local businesses in my area in more ways than just a video by connecting them and guiding them in ways to make their business far better than ever before. Now almost a full year into this business I fully feel I am starting to enter my element in crafting not only a perfect video but an even better time with my clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not learned to know the value and worth of my work is still to this day an issue at times, having to explain why i certain price is the way it is or having to deal with people who expect things done for free is still something I deal with on a day to day basis.
I have times when I am understaffed and film an entire event alone, times in which I go long hours with no food days, and times where I work three weeks straight as I am the only one in my business I shoot, edit, talk with clients, schedule, do all my gear maintained, keep track of finances and so much more on a day to day basis. Finding gigs during certain months can be a pain some months I’m fully booked in others I would only have one or two gigs keeping everything afloat but as everyone knows this is the starting stage of business and soon the hard work will pay off.
