Daily Inspiration: Meet Auggie Hughes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Auggie Hughes.

Hi Auggie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Arthur and I worked together at a bar. When it was slow, we would jam on ukuleles. Eventually, we realized I sing and play guitar while Arthur shreds on bass. We began playing cover shows at a piano bar. Naturally, Arthur’s roommate, Logan, played drums and joined shortly after.

Our search for a guitarist was a tough one, but Jordan (Logan’s brother) was the last to audition and Trustfall was born. We are an indie rock band from Gainesville, Florida. It’s hard to describe our sound; I usually list four or five genres when describing our sound. We are somewhere in between indie rock/pop/alternative/surf rock.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a smooth ride. We came together, learned covers, really learned how to play together, and found our sound.

Our originals started with songs I would write and come to the band with, but before we knew it we were writing songs as a group. I think our greatest challenge was finding a guitarist. We had a few auditions, but luckily Jordan wanted to play with us. Jordan was Arthur’s other roommate at the time. We all agreed Jordan was too skilled and figured he wouldn’t want to join. I am so glad we were wrong. We wouldn’t be Trustfall without him.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist and content creator. I paint and do all of the art for the band (posters, flyers, stickers, shirts, etc.). I am in the process of starting my own business to sell my paintings and designs. Content creation is an outlet for my craft and has helped me build an audience.

I am most proud of the paintings I create and the songs Trustfall writes. Our very first release/single will be out on all platforms on February 24th. “Don’t Care” is one of the first songs we wrote together. It’s been a long time coming; we’ve been a band for a little over a year. I’m so stoked to put our music out into the world.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ve spent a lot of time in Orlando and I like the nightlife and restaurants: The Strand, Deli Desires, Stasio’s, and Tori Tori. The list goes on. My least favorite thing about Orlando is the traffic. Colonial is the worst.
