Community Highlights: Meet Shannon Rollins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Rollins.

Hi Shannon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been really interested in human behavior and why we act the way we do in life. I always was investigating the human experience growing up and knew that was my passion right away. When I first realized I wanted to work in the mental health space is when I was a corporate wellness expert at a company. I would work with companies to help their employees lose weight and decrease stress and would find that there was always something holding them back from creating the change they wanted. I knew that I wanted to help people get to the bottom of why they weren’t making the changes they wanted, but I wasn’t sure what that was yet. Then, our family went through a tragedy that I thought we would never have to endure. A tragedy that made me so ferociously passionate about helping people with their mental health and well-being. As I was processing what happened, I knew that I wanted to get help in an alternative way. I went to a hypnotherapist that helped me heal with past trauma and grief and it forever changed my life. After the first session, I walked away feeling so aligned in my purpose in life. I knew right away I wanted to become a hypnotherapist and enrolled in school the same week. Every setback and loss I’ve gone through has led me to where I am today and I couldn’t be happier with the path I’ve chose of seeing my clients transform their lives the way I did.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am also a public speaker. I remember I used to be so concerned with my performance that I would almost have panic attacks before speaking in public. I now stand in front of people with no anxious feelings and only excitement to share my knowledge with the audience. I started my business full-time two weeks before the pandemic started, I can’t make this up! I know that it all happened for a reason and has helped me build resiliency in business today. Now my business is thriving as I’ve worked through these mental blocks that were holding me back.
