Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeisha Jones.
Lakeisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey as an entrepreneur at the age of 14. I loved to put together events for friends and family. I didn’t know business necessarily, I just knew I was organized and a visionary. That led to 10 years as an Event Designer for personal & business events. I grew tired and had a ton of burnout and knew it was time to exit the event planning industry. I switched gears and went into the financial industry, 10 years of banking, a college financial advisor; which lead to local cities reaching out to me to teach financial wealth management in my communities.
I absolutely loved people and helping them understand the power of saving and managing their finances was important to me. What I love about people is, they also seem to let you know what they are in need of. By this time I built a solid tribe on Facebook and people wanted more! More education on credit, home buying, and starting and growing a business, and here is where my current business was born. Prestige Enterprise. We are a full consulting firm and we offer an extension of services to our clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think some of the greatest challenges I’ve faced over the years is knowing that my life and my business aren’t a race to the success finish line. I always like to use the example with my clients of the story of the Turtle & the Rabbit… It’s not about who finishes the race first.
Measuring my goals within myself and not those around me keeps me focused. Social media can definitely contribute to how successful one May or may not think they are and I’ve had to learn that my race, is just that “my race”.
What’s next?
I’m looking forward to expanding my business outside the state of Florida. Our first major extension is adding consulting and recruiting services in other states.
