Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate D’Amico.
Hi Kate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Social Media Director by day, and in my spare time I’m a blogger and also do some freelance work for local businesses to help them with their social media marketing as well. I balance all of this with being a wife, sister, daughter, friend, and most importantly – mom to my sweet little girl. I start each day with a cup of coffee (a must!), a workout, and goals for the day. I’m a big believer in loving what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life. Ideas are constantly flowing, and inspiration is all around. It’s very important to stay in tune with recent trends and changes in your field. Attending conferences and joining webinars is a great way to continue learning. In the ever changing and evolving world of social media, it’s crucial to remain informed not only for you but for your clients as well. They are relying on you for your expertise and best practices, and how can you best serve them when you’re stuck on version 4.0 and in reality, the world is up to version 5.5? My passion for brand awareness, engagement, and community building has led me to where I am today and I couldn’t be happier.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I always joke that it took a lot of crappy jobs to get to where I am today. It was all worth it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Social Media Director for a global company which has taken me around the world covering large events. I enjoy taking people behind the scenes and creating a sense of FOMO so they don’t want to miss out on the next event. I am proud of how I was able to turn our social media presence around from basic and stuffy to exciting and engaging. Hearing people say it’s fun to follow us on social media now is one of the best compliments!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I enjoy the weekly Social Media Talk Show – the valuable information obtained each week is unparalleled. Attending their annual Social Media Marketing World conference in San Diego is also an incredible experience. You learn so much and network with other professionals just like yourself.
