Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Nethers.
Hi Paige, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Two Peas started as a side hustle while I was teaching Kindergarten full time. I was pregnant with my daughter and wanted to try painting something for her nursery. I practiced often, then started lettering and painting watercolor for friends who were getting married. It slowly evolved from there, and I made the switch to creating custom paper goods and gifts full time in 2019!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say overall, it’s been a smooth road! Like any small business owner, I’ve experienced plenty of ups and downs. I used to romanticize working for myself and underestimated the amount of work it would take to wear every hat at the same time. Small business owners are often their own marketing, sales, customer service, client management, and finance teams – on top of their actual skill/trade. Yet, I find so much joy in having more family time, having flexibility to take on projects and clients that excite me and still set my own schedule.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to say I’m a visual storyteller! More specifically, I’m a stationer, calligrapher, and watercolor artist. I specialize in wedding stationery, house and pet portraits, prints, gifts, and pretty things! I’m known for realistic and soft watercolors and am most proud of telling love stories through a paintbrush. I believe that art is meant to bring joy and meaning, and personality to any room or occasion. I’m often hired to paint watercolor family crests complete with pet portraits, venues, and details that make up a couple or family’s story – and I never get tired of them! No two stories are the same, and I believe that even tiny details matter when creating meaningful artwork for my clients.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Some people might be surprised to know I share a sister brand, Brush & Letter Co., with a talented local artist and friend! We offer live art and faceless portraits that celebrate love stories, so it’s a super exciting extension of our own personal brands.
