Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Meayke.
Hi Sofia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Sofia and I am Latina, I am from Venezuela! Since I was a little girl, I love everything that relates to social media, I’ve always wanted to do something different and stand out, I love public speeches and meeting new people. I am studying Massive Communications in Orlando Florida and I work in the social media area of a preschool.
I am in social media since I am 12 years old, back in that time I used to have a youtube channel with more than 30k subscribers. When I moved to the U.S. I started to share I had social media and in school, kids started to make fun of me, I was so insecure about it and I didn’t want to continue. And even though I was building a beautiful community, I closed my youtube channel to make people “stop”.
I now understand things better, I understand that if you like what you are doing you have to keep going! And that is what I am doing right now. Following my dreams and doing what I love to do. I create content on social media, I record myself and I enjoy what I do!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have not been anything closer to smooth, because even though my family had always told me and showed me their love for me and for what I do, others didn’t and used to make fun or make hateful comments about what I used to do.
Now I understand not everyone is going to like what you do, but it hasn’t been easy to understand it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a student, and I will in the future work professionally in my area but now I am in a creative process, I enjoy recording and editing my own videos! I work a part-time job, go to the gym, go to college, and then create all the content so my life is based on dividing my time to do all I need to do!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the parks like Disney and Universal and the beautiful places they have. What I don’t like is that it doesn’t have many different places other than the ones I already mentioned, I feel it needs more new places.
