Please kick things off for us with some background on the story?
The idea was sparked during a casual conversation at a family BBQ, where each of us brought our unique set of skills and experiences to the table. Jonathan’s experience in the Black Car services industry provided valuable insights into the industry and helped us understand what it takes to run a successful car service. Evelyn brought up her marketing expertise which is essential in developing the brand, creating marketing materials, and reaching new customers.

Eylin’s legal experience helps the family navigate legal requirements and regulations, while Carlos’s communication skills which are crucial in managing customer relations and ensuring that the business runs smoothly. With a diverse set of skills and experiences, we set out to establish a high-quality car service that provides exceptional service to its customers. We started with just a few vehicles and relied on word-of-mouth referrals to attract new customers.

As our business grows, we are working on expanding our fleet, investing in technology, and developing a strong online presence to attract new customers. Our goal is that over time, our family-owned Black car service would develop a reputation for providing reliable, safe, and professional transportation services. By leveraging our individual strengths and working together as a team, we aim to build a successful business that makes a difference in the transportation industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Obtaining the necessary licenses and permits – Getting the right licenses and permits to operate a Black car service can be a complex and time-consuming process. We had to navigate through multiple government agencies, which was frustrating and time-consuming.

Waiting for appointments – Depending on the area, appointments for inspections and licensing were limited, resulting in long wait times. This caused a 2-month delay in the launch of our business and affected our ability to generate revenue.

Investing in vehicles – Purchasing vehicles is expensive and requires a significant financial investment. Maintaining a fleet of high-quality cars that meet customer expectations is challenging.

Competition – The transportation industry can be highly competitive, with many established players and new entrants. Building a brand and attracting customers was a significant challenge in such an environment.

Managing growth – As the business grows, managing operations and logistics can become increasingly complex. This is why we now have to invest in technology and processes to manage our business more efficiently.
