Meet Bryan Coronel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Coronel.

Bryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Honestly, my story is pretty funny and contradicting at first. As a little kid, I was TERRIFIED of coasters at first. My first coaster experience started pretty late because as a child I was very small and wasn’t tall enough to ride any coasters. So, at the age of 6, I was at Busch Gardens located in Tampa, FL. I’d say sometime around summer and got the bright idea of wearing long baggy pants and “Heelys” shoes. For the reason that the heel itself, even without the wheel made you about an inch taller.

But, even still that wasn’t enough. So, the idea with the long baggy pants is what pushed me to the height because I would stick my heels out of the shoes so I was tip-toeing on the shoes while ALSO having the extra in from the heel of the shoes and that finally did the trick, haha! So, I was finally able to ride my first coaster. I remember approaching the doors that open to let you onto the train of the coaster itself and I was TREMBLING. I sat in the seat and brought down the safety as tight as it goes.

And what made it even scarier was the fact that for “Scorpion” it was only a lap support! And the ride has a freaking LOOP! That made no sense to me and terrified me to my core. So, the coaster took off and started going up the first hill and my heart was pounding like you have no idea! Then came the first little drop turn. Let me tell you. This is a smaller coaster but it is INTENSE, ROUGH, and catches some pretty fast speed.

Especially me being such a little boy. In all the turns it had me pinned down to each corner not being able to move at ALL. Then I saw the loop approaching and I started breathing so fast I felt like I was going to pass out. This part is hilarious because the loop’s force was SO INTENSE for me it completely leaned me forward and bade me putter gorse go completely between my legs. My mom who rode with me started freaking out because she tried reaching her arm to the side to hold me and couldn’t feel me and thought I flew out of the coaster.

HAHAHAHA. Good times. When the ride ended and I processed everything that happened. The way my adrenaline went crazy the way the coaster itself made me feel. I fell in love with coasters that very day. Ever since that day, I’ve dared myself to ride ANY COASTER. I always get that scared adrenaline-rushing feeling but I’m addicted to it. I LOVE coasters with a passion. Even the infamous world’s tallest drop tower closed down here in Orlando. I rode that sucker twice. And boy let me tell you, that thing was the SCARIEST thing I’ve ever come across so far. But yeah that’s my story!

Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did relive it with you guys as I typed it. Oh, by the way, my favorite all-time coaster so far is “Iron Gwazi” in Busch Gardens Tampa. But I still have thousands of coasters to ride so I know for a fact it’s not a set-in-stone favorite!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Asides from the height issues at first only other thing was that my family and I were from Miami, FL when I was born and didn’t explore any theme parks up until I was a little kid because of the 4-hour drive and we were a lower/middle-class family at the time.

So the trips were very rare. But now as an adult, I live here in Orlando and have access to so many great theme parks here now. But the goal is to be able to travel and explore and be able to ride all of the world’s best coasters out there. Soon, hopefully!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I honestly don’t necessarily specialize in anything. I have different “hobbies” as you may call them but it boils down to TWO passions. The first is producing house music, and the second it’s ROLLER COASTERS. But, honestly, the roller coasters take the win.

The way they make me feel is like nothing else. I LOVE THEM WITH A FREAKING PASSION. The thing that I’m most proud of is the fact that I have the gift of becoming talented at some of the things that I pick up. Music, basketball, baseball, etc. But traveling to ride all the roller coasters in the world is what I want more than ANYTHING.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I’m left-handed, and, that I make really good house music actually haha! I go by the DJ name “Reefy Soul”. And have some released music on a record label and will be releasing more pretty soon too!
