Life & Work with Jonathan Richman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Richman.

Hi Jonathan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started my career as an educator, and still teach to this day. Growing up in a family of avid travelers, my experience from cross-country road trips to overseas maritime adventures bolsters my enthusiasm to share cultural experiences.

Tie that in with the love of amusement parks and you have someone looking for adventure! I started my travel agency to share my experiences and expertise in cruising and theme park travel at the suggestion of my colleagues, friends, and family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting as a teacher and adding on a travel agency has not been a smooth course. My experience is similar to some.

The coursework for certification is not difficult, however, connecting with clients is the difficult part. I love talking to people. I am humbled to find out that the first parts of starting any new business will be slow with few clients. I find this to be positive to allows me to focus on each client’s requests to create an amazing vacation for their family and travel party.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Richman Guides currently specializes in travel to Florida theme parks and cruising on Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival Cruise Lines. I am proud to have my business be a Florida local business connecting people with travel options to and from this great state!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Orlando is a great travel hub for anyone to visit! Theme parks, culture, nature, and cruising nearby!

I have been slowly making my way closer to Orlando from Tampa because of the up-and-coming opportunities that Central Florida is bringing! I know the least favorite part of Orlando for me is the sprawl and traffic. The update on I-4 and other highways is improving the quality of life for everyone in Orlando.
