Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Fillon.
Hi Brittney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! My name is Brittney, owner/operator of The Trough mobile bartending. In April of 2022, I bought a 90’s horse trailer and completely renovated it into a mobile bar. I had the end goal of becoming a small business owner. Since I had recently become a new mom, I wanted to accomplish this for myself as well as having the opportunity to be in charge of my schedule and ability to be a present parent with my son.
I completed the renovation in December of 2022. I came up with the name “The Trough” after brainstorming a catchy name involving horses and beverages. What’s better than a water hole for thirsty horses?
I was fully licensed and insured by mid December. Since then I have been booking events of all sizes and every occasion. From a full package at an engagement party to mimosa bars for bridal showers, The Trough adds a statement to every event! I love what I do and appreciate being able to take part in so many special moments in others lives!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’d say the most stressful part was the renovation. That took a lot of blood sweat and tears, lol.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’d like to think of myself as a self-employed, woman/momma-operated small business owner.
I hope I am setting examples for others when it comes to pursuing their dream and my son grows up watching his mom succeed and thrive off the support of others and more small businesses like mine!
I enjoy establishing a relationship with each person and making the experience as custom as possible for every event!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am a 1 man show (taking into consideration I have another bartender when needed) but I have accommodated every event, pleasing each customer by personalizing each occasion. I want their experience with The Trough to be memorable and be known as a reputable business.
I’d say one word that best describes myself would be “motivated”. I truly enjoy setting goals and accomplishing them one by one then setting another goal and so forth.
I think it’s important to do things that bring joy to your life and you cherish things so much more when you do them yourself!
