Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Birch.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Cape Canaveral and have been surfing here my whole life. Surfing has always been more than a hobby.
From a young age, surfing was a way to express myself. Fast forward to now, I’m an operating room nurse at my local hospital and pursuing my master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner. I started Canaveral Surf in early 2023 as a way to continue doing what I love and share my passion with others.
I brought aboard some of my childhood friends that I grew up surfing with and some that I met surfing to share the experience. Part of our natural amenity of the space coast of Florida is the beach.
Cocoa Beach is the surfing capital of Florida after all! My team takes individuals that may have never even seen the ocean out on boards. We review ocean safety and all the basics. Seeing our guests get so happy getting that first wave reminds us of the “stoke” we felt when we were kids learning to surf.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
That cliche “if you truly love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life” absolutely applies to my journey. It hasn’t always been easy, but every step has been worth it.
Each small step Canaveral Surf has taken has felt like a victory. Each setback or obstacle has been met by my team, friends, and family.

Many people are nervous about their first surfing lesson or are apprehensive about falling. We are proud to offer a much higher instructor-to-learner ratio during group lessons offering more focused coaching. Usually, it’s 1:1 even in larger groups. We don’t just take people out whenever we can.
We collaborate with our guests to discuss conditions that will be the most favorable for them. Surfing is all about being in the right place, at the right time, with the right technique. We make sure the first experience is excellent. We also have a personal photographer that comes to every lesson to get those perfect shots for us!
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson learned on my journey has been to have fun. When you’re truly passionate about something, it can be helpful to use that to refocus when the going gets tough.
Networking has also been invaluable. It’s amazing how established relationships can be beneficial in ways you might not expect!
