From a young age, I was always captivated by the fashion world. However, when my mother passed away, our family was forced to uproot and move a few times, causing my dreams to veer off course. Eventually, I found myself in Orlando, wondering which career path to pursue. In a hasty decision, I chose aesthetics as a quick and easy option to have something to fall back on. I discovered a deep passion for enhancing natural beauty and the art of cosmetics. I secured a freelance position at Mac Cosmetics, where I honed my skills for a couple of years. However, as time passed, I realized Mac did not fulfill my financial aspirations. Determined to find my path, I delved into the nightlife scene while continuing to serve clients from my sister’s apartment, where I also resided. I impulsively enrolled in a lash course, foreseeing the rising demand for this beauty trend and balancing my work in the club with daytime appointments in my living room. As my clientele grew steadily, I boldly decided to kiss the nightlife goodbye and fully commit to my beauty business. It was time to establish a dedicated studio. I found a friend seeking a co-lessee for their studio through a fortuitous connection. I seized the opportunity and began working from this shared space without hesitation. Within a year, my business flourished, allowing me to secure my very own studio, where I have been operating for the past two years. Along this journey, I have developed my line of beauty products and cultivated a loyal clientele. Every step of the way, I have poured my heart and soul into building BE XQUISITE.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Like many entrepreneurs, I have come to realize that the path of entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It requires setting firm boundaries, severing ties that no longer serve you, and making personal sacrifices. Financially, some things must be sacrificed to achieve your desired goals. Throughout my journey, I have faced numerous challenges and endured significant hardships. I sometimes find myself grappling with imposter syndrome, doubting my abilities and questioning if I truly belong in this space.
